Chrono Trigger is possibly the best RPG ever created. 'Nough said.

Well, it is about time I got around to reviewing Chrono Trigger. What can one say about Chrono Trigger? What old-school RPG gamer has not played the game? What old school gamer in general has not heard of Chrono Trigger? Who does not have fond memories of Chrono Trigger? Chrono Trigger is perfection. Akira Toriyama's character designs are at the best they have ever been (with the exception of the upcoming Dragon Quest VIII). The storyline is one of the best to ever grace an RPG. The sound is amazing, filled with tunes and pieces that will stay in your head for years after. The characterization is superb. Characters whose lives are almost as real as our own. Characters whose stories will fascinate and excite you. There is really nothing flawed about Chrono Trigger. Gameplay: Chrono Trigger, as I said before, has one of the best storylines featured in an RPG. From time travel from the stone age to the future, to the awesome characters and enemies. There is nothing that can be said about the story without spoiling some little detail that will excite you when you play the game. The battle system is turn based, though can be played on active so that there is more speed and challenge involved. Your characters will learn techs and magic as they level up. Magic is usually very important, and also factors into techs. Later you can even learn dual and triple techs, which become some of the strongest attacks in the game. Battles are seemless, no seperate screen to fight in, and no random battles, you always see the enemies on the screen, something which, for its time, was exceedingly rare. I don't really know what else to say about the gameplay, there is no game to really compare Chrono Trigger to because it is so incredibly awesome. Graphics: Graphically for its time Chrono Trigger was one of the best looking games ever made. Character designs by Akira Toriyama of Dragon Ball fame helped immensely. Sound: The music draws you in, and all of it suits perfectly the area you are in. The sound effects are similarly amazing. Value: Even without the plethora of many different endings, Chrono Trigger would be worth more than one playthrough. With said fact, it is amazing in its replay value. Tilt: Chrono Trigger is quite possibly the best RPG ever made. Seiken Densetsu 3 is my personal favorite, but Chrono Trigger's combination of every element that makes RPGs great makes it stand out ahead of the rest of the crowd.
