Would it really be that hard honestly? What is Squenix's problem that they just let this game gather dust, yet it has alot of fans still to this day.

It wouldn't be hard but I'd say they probably think it wouldn't appeal to the younger generation .... kids now days wouldn't know an epic RPG or an amazing storyline if it smacked em in the face...

I prefer JRPGs in 2D for whatever reason.

That being said, probably not hard, no.

This. I would like to see a remake, but in 2D only.

To be fair, the storyline wasn't epic, in hindsight.
    The gameplay was okay.
    The difficulty was #### easy.

    The music def was, though.

I would imagine that the hard parts would be modeling, animating and reprogramming... Some algorithms can be copied and pasted, but things like on-screen movement might have to change with it being on a 3D plane.

Would be neat to see animated pre-rendered backgrounds with high poly-count characters (see: Onimusha)...

This is presently irrelevant to the current situation.

I dont think it would necessarily be hard but it wouldnt have the same magic. Im sure there would be something that they changed in it as well. I also doubt the "dream team" are all on the same page and would want to remake it.

From the ground up? The same as the development as any game really unless it's by 3D realms or ION Storm.

I agree with all your points except for the one about the storyline not being epic.

Story in a Video Game is all about the experience and Chrono Trigger is easily one of the few games I played where the story actually kept me interested throughout the entire game. Only area where it started to drag was the post Chrono Revive quests. And even then some of those were fun.

I am speaking from a retrospective perspective, however. When I first played it...about three years ago, it blew me away, yeah.

Keep in mind that they would have to do voice acting for it.

The question is 'why would anyone want a 'current gen' remake'?

As an old school JRPG fan, I'd much prefer time and effort went into producing a game with similar design elements etc, but much more expansive, difficult and with a decent amount of story to give me the 40+ hours i got going through games like FFVI, FFIX, Legend Of Legaia, and others...

A remake of the game wouldn't make it 'better' than it is and, if it is just a remake... There's nothing actually new.

Square has much respect for this series. They wouldn't remake it.

Id much rather have a remake of this game or new game all together , as good as final fantasy is , I think it needs a rest for a few years I WANT MORE CHRONO GAMES !!!!!!!!

I would say voice acting is a must. They might have to have the game stand up to the tales series, their games have great voice acting in them, a lot of Tales of Vesparia's skits were funny.

If they decided to remake this game with current gen graphics I would have to go savage, Punisher style. They destroy more then enough works of art that they should leave this one alone.

This game is the definition of perfection.

Who cares how hard it would be, there's no way it would look better than it does now.

    agreed.

Except it's not perfect is it?

It's far too short, and far too easy.....

I want a remake because I want desperately to play Chrono Trigger for the first time again... selfish, I know. Anyway, the combat system is way too simplistic by today's standards so that would have to be revamped which would begin a very long slope I believe.
