First off, let me just say that no matter how well-written or described my review may seem or viewed as, the praise I'm giving towards this game will still be an understatement, for Chrono Cross is as much as a game as it is a life-changing experience. Another thing; I never played this game until now, the year 2012, so I have no sense of nostalgia or feelings of favor-ability that could stem out of my past. Now to the actual review: in short, like put in the classification, Chrono Cross is a whole-hearted gaming masterpiece. But to further elaborate, I'll begin with the story. This tale that is told in Chrono Cross revolves around the story in Chrono Trigger and, since it is a sequel, tells of the consequences that were a result of that game. Although the story can sometimes be hard to follow, this is probably because I hadn't ever played Chrono Trigger before, so I sometimes I couldn't understand things that we're going on since they had to do with the last game. Do not let this discourage you, however, as the story itself is still something to marvel at even if you're considering playing this without playing the first entry in the series. Next, we'll focus on the gameplay, which still follows the the Japanese-role playing game tradition while adding a few twists and differences that keep the whole game fresh and wonderful. The combat is extremely entertaining, and kept me wanting to come back for more. Although I found the game to be a bit easy, this is because I focused on every side-quest available while progressing through the story, which is exactly why each battle I fought wasn't as difficult as it could've been. If you're looking for a challenge and simply looking to finish the main meat of the game, I'll bet you a great worth that this game will be right up your alley. Or, if you're guy like me who enjoys games simply for fun and enjoyment, Chrono Cross' gameplay will never fail to entertain. Lastly, although the game was released over ten years ago, it still holds up incredibly well. Sure, the graphics may seem outdated, but keep in mind that this was a PlayStation 1 game, and this game was actually one the best looking games the system ever had to offer. Like I mentioned before, I had never played this game before, so to be able to deliver an experience so amazing and fantastic while in the midst of all the other great games coming out at this time is truly superb. Overall, Chrono Cross is a heart-touching masterpiece that is surely not to be missed, and you should definitely add this game to your collection and play through it at least once; you shall not be disappointed.
