I am of the opinion that Gamespot has undervalued this little gem. Packed with charm, it shows you why you play games.

User Rating: 8.4 | Chibi Robo! GC
The game starts with The Sanderson family, with Dad having just bough you, Chibi-Robo. An inch tall robot who helps clean the house and assist the family with various things. With you is you manager, Telly-vision, a somewhat misguided flying TV.

The aim of the game is simple. Work around the house and aid the family until your Chibi Rank reaches number one. So you have a clear goal from the outset, keeping you focused on the prize : that coveted number one position. Ooh, sparkly.....

However, unbeknown to the family, all the toys in the house call walk, talk and have problems of their very own, problems which you have to solve. These characters are a lot of fun to talk to, most notably Drake Redcrest (Space Hunter) and The Free Rangers.

Despite being based on doing chores, the game never feels like one. It's a joy being able to walk around a living room an inch tall, seeing all the high places and wondering what might be up there. Nintendo really nailed the scale of things, making climbing the stairs a seemingly impossible feat to begin with.

The gameplay is more or less perfect. Chibi controls responsively, although he runs quite slow. However, this can be combated by picking up his plug with a firm press of the A button. The camera can very rarely be a pain, with it getting stuck behind objects, but this isn't a huge problem. The gameplay in general is pretty much spot on, nothing should hinder you enjoying the game.

Graphics are somewhat basic. Lots of bright colours are used and with everything being so huge, there is lots to look at. However, with the scale being what it is, things are interesting to look at, so the graphics don't need to be photo-realistic.

The sound again is basic. Characters speak in beeps and grunts (with the exception of Chibi, who can't talk). However, movement is a joy. Every step Chibi takes makes a musical note sound, different key for different surfaces. It's a lovely addition by Nintendo, which adds bags of charm and really adds to the overall package.

The game takes around 10 hours to do first time round, perhaps double that if you want to collect all the stickers at the end. It isn't too difficult, but there are a few puzzles that had me scratching my head. Nothing too challenging though.

Overall, a fine little game which isn't getting the appreciation is deserves. Go out and buy it, you'll be surprised how much love you can get out of this inch tall robot.
