A fun Hack n' slash for your PS2!

User Rating: 8 | Champions: Return to Arms PS2
Champions Return to Arms is a good game. I think what I love most about the game is that it is simple, accessible and still downright addictive. It's a hack n' slash like Diablo, but it's on console and works great with the PS2 controller. Furthermore, it's really fun to be able to play this game with friends. Sharing loot, fighting for loot, working together to handle bosses. It's all in good fun.

Graphics are great for the PS2. It's amazing what they pulled off here. Plenty of unique creatures, good animation, the worlds are all unique and detailed, good textures, fire, water effects...everything is just nice and clean to look at. Even when you zoom in on your character, it still looks great.

It packs quite a challenge too. Even with good armor and high stamina, a barbarian can die quite easily if swamped by foes. And bosses are deadly. A single hit is usually enough to end your life. And, of course, if it's still not challenging enough, you can always jump into a higher difficulty with a low level character.

This is a great loot game for the PS2. If you've got a few friends who enjoy the genre, don't hesitate to snatch it up. I've beaten this game once with a friend, beaten it alone, and have played it on two other occasions with other friends. There's a good amount of customization, plenty of levels, an awesome variety of enemies that react differently(some swarm you, others wait before striking, other block your attacks, etc), and a varied amount of loot (even if there isn't a whole lot of variety, they change things up to make a good amount).

The only flaws: there are some bugs in the game, certain stat effects don't work. magic is underpowered. occasional glitches happen.
