What the Flip Happened?

User Rating: 7.1 | Champions: Return to Arms PS2
Man, Champions went down hill on this one. Return to Arms was supposed to be the next best thing to come out since sliced bread. Sad to say, it fell short. Graphically, the game is good. The sound and music work well, and the whole character transition from Champions to RTA is sweet. But beyond that, there is no better way to describe this game other than "meh". The biggest problem was the glitches, the glitches, and the glitches. How can they have so long to work in beta testing and come out with so many glitches (i.e. the game temporarily freezing, monsters magically disappearing, the strange colors floating in the sky)? Another issue that seemed to come up was the fact that you couldn't import characters in the middle of a game. I understand they might have been trying to eliminate the item cheat from the last game (which they didn't) but they cut out a major plus from the first game. Pulling in a friend on those hard stages, leveling up outside of your traveling group, item cheating . . . all gone. Then, it was a bit hard to accept that Norrath was split up into "planes". I thought they led people to believe that Norrath was all one plane and we just travel from one part to another. Other things came up while playing this half-ashed rendition of Everquest, but I digress. My opinion, definitely rent until the price comes down to $20, then maybe (MAYBE...) consider buying it.
