Check out an awesome behind-the-scenes look at Champions Online with the dev team!
Looks SWEET!
just to let everyone know you can get an automatic lvl 40 (which is the highest level you can get to). Plus this game is amazing its so fun and the pvp aint to bad
Can't wait for this one! I hope the developers go far, far away from CoH with Champions, though.
MMO on xbox? sweet
hey f1. die.
OK so these guys did CoH, then years later they post this video in which they tell us "hey here's an idea! let's make a MMO game about superheroes!!!" wtf? Why didn't they just call it CoH2? Or better yet, just not make another stupid game :|
This is going to be one of the special gems that will have its place in the MMO market. I am not saying it is going to be another WOW. But this is the game for me. I can?t wait to sample this game next Monday.
All that character customisation, but if it's anything like City of Heroes 70% will be NInja's, 20% will be school/cat girls which are really 40 year old men, 9% will be goth chicks/guys and the remaining 1% will be something actually quite unique.
usually in games where your costume is just for looks, you get more things to customize, as well as the chance to look cool right away rather than looking like a douche until 80 and then getting cool stuff. If they do it anything like CoH it will also probably have a place you can change your costume and re-do how you look.
Yay! My turn to flame people. For all you people who refuse to pay to play on the 360. You're welcome to NOT buy the game. FFXI released for the 360 and was awesome. So much so I installed the drivers to use the 360 controller on my PC. You pay because you want actual people to fix things and care about a game. You get a free game and you end up paying microtransactions and STILL not getting anyone who cares to actually fix and maintain. To all you who say this game is just another CoH. A little background. Cryptic INVENTED then sold CoH. They were hired by Marvel to do the Marvel MMO. A few years into development Marvel pulled out. So what do you do if you have this AWESOME game and no real franchise? You get a franchise like Champions with has been a table-top RPG for YEARS. Thus Champions Online is born. Quit hating and flaming, if you don't like the game... go back to WoW and re-kill those Yetis that have been recycled 8000000 times.
the only frustrating and unavoidable problem with making characters with customizable costumes is that theres no aesthetic incentive to collect and upgrade your armor. you're stuck with the exact same appearance the entire lifespan of the game =/
oh how grand would this have been as onlinesingleplayer game... then the battles would have really been more dynamic rather than just normal hit-the-button-wait-cooldown crap
Dalvon: reusing engine is only bad when the engine has problems such as being incomplete or lack of support from the creator. Otherwise it cuts down greatly on tech-time and give more focus on gameplay.
Beta'ed for months. Champions is awesome. Most customizable MMO to date. In powers and appearance. 20 more days! Fileplanet will be giving out keys for open beta. It starts on the 17th. Dalvon: It's actually quiet the opposite. Using the existing engine made them game far more stable, allowing more time to work on content. CO is very fun.
not too sure about this one
CoH was a good game due to the fact it invented to new type of team play that allowed low lvl players to fight close to their friends level which does make cryptic quite good at inventing new ways of gameplay. However i have a feeling that their could be a buggy issue when they release it due to the fact that their using a mofified version of the CoH graphics drive which could cause a number of serious issues to pop up.
City of Heroes was TEH SUCK!! This looks very promising.
IS this still coming to Xbox 360 I am really interested in this it looks like its going to be a lot of fun. If so does anyone know when.
DCUO is going to pwn Champs, my opinion.
Looks promising, but I hope its not City of Heroes part 2.
why do so many people complain about pay to play... get a job and make some money you sooks. Most of these games come with a free month so if u don't like it you can stop playing, and if you do like it then wtf is $10-$30 a month...? Bums can scrounge up more change then that in a couple of days
F1_2004 is a nooblet. :p
F1_2004 You know that cryptic studios did City Of Heroes right
These guys talk as if City of Heroes never existed... it's already been done, lads.
Thats exactly why they might not come out with it on 360. Kids aren't willing to pay the monthly fees, where us mmoprg PC players know that a MMORPG pay to play is a must for a Major League game.
i cant wait for this game! Im happy to pay a monthly fee, it means the game always evolves and bugs are constantly fixed
MMO's will always have a Pay to play otherwise they suck.
im confused now, gamespot say its coming out on the 360 but game, gamestation, amazon and a few others show it as a PC only game, the champions online site has no mention of an Xbox 360 release either. Please tell me its coming out on xbox, my PC hasn't been upgraded in years and it's about as much use as a chocolate teapot.
I agree with feliscele a monthly fee sucks, i might not buy the game if it has amonthly fee for the 360 because you already have to pay for gold
i always wanted to be a super hero
WHAT?!?! @ rather play on xbox? bah! PC reigns supreme! it always will!
its not for 360 :(
Not buying if it has a monthly fee on 360...
Looks awesome. Can't wait to play it. I still don't get why people complain about the monthly fee. Most of the top MMO's out there have it. You have tons of support and lots of content that you wouldn't get any other way. I think is a fair deal.
what? i clicked this to see the toast
this game is going to be real fun.... and yes it will have a monthly fee
I don't care how bad I want this game - if it has monthly fees, then I guess I'll just be happy playing Borderlands.
Hopefully this doesn't end up like Conan, but the fact that they delayed the PC version shows that they are willing to put effort in their game, and perhaps can be said about the 360 version.
Awesome! Already preordered! =)
@Rammone4 The 360 version is not going to be out until March 2010
People are still complaining about monthly subscriptions? Getting addicted to an MMO is probably the best way to save money, lol.
All I want to know: Is there any valid confirmation that the Xbox 360 version is going to be released with the PC version. I just spent like 600-800 bucks building a new PC for this game, and still I would rather prefer playing it on the Xbox 360... Does anyone have any valid proof? I keep seeing in-correct references. Some sites say Q1 2010 (Gamestop), others say Q3 2009...Whats the real date of release for anyone who knows?
Pricing Info here: http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=220842 I suspect if I get a pc that can run it when I get back to uni then i'll buy the lifetime plan and savour the game for the 13 months im paying for before enjoying free gameplay from then onwards. Also the extra character slots should be pretty useful.
You know, there is allways something alluring about being able to create your own super hero or super villain. Cryptic has shown to be an excellent creator of MMO's so far. I might just take a shot at this.
I have my beta key and will be playing all weekend. I'm really excited. :D
@hand4hire "This game looks awesome but I just hope that it doesn't cost anything to play. I hope since it's coming out for the 360 it won't cost anything, but Microsoft is pretty good at taking your money"" you dont know much about mmo's fees do you? u pay microsoft for xbox live privilege and use the servers. nothing more.you pay fee's for mmo's because they constantly update there stuff adding new things and working on the game after release. Also you be using there servers fore sure on the pc. Depending how they want to set it up on the 360 you might use there servers or they might choose xbox. FfXI has it's own servers on xbox live you can play online when ever microsoft shuts down xbox live~as logn as your on before microsoft turns it off you will remain online in ffxl
I don't know, that inevitable monthly subscription fee definitely puts a damper on it. I've never liked the idea of paying to play...maybe if it were extremely reasonable, like $3-$4 a month, I'd consider it
@Hand4Hire Hate to break it to you hand, but I can virtually guarantee its going to have a monthly subscription fee. @MrCha1nsaw I'm pretty sure it IS coming out for the Xbox 360, but not until after the PC version, no idea on actual dates though. But they already have support for Xbox controllers on the PC. @Brazucass No way to know which of the two will be better till you've played both for yourself. I think both look promising myself. @Summoner678 Trust me, there are differences. However, at the same time there are definitely similarities as well. Basically take all the aspects you like about CoH and make them better. Then take everything you didn't like about CoH and throw them out the window.
Actually Stjimmy15 your thinking of age of conan.
Actually sgpure, before you go trashin the guy; there have been rumors that it has been axed or delayed for the 360. But, i now think you're way cool cause you used a censor.
