When i see Bill Roper, all i can do is remember the epic fail that was Hellgate London and Flagship Studios.
Gonna have to pass on this one.

lol you wont see 10 000 people or 100 000 people running around this gameworld, since the max per gameworld is.. wait for it... 200 people XD

sorry but when yourfirst patch after release consists of Nerfing almost ALL passive player abiltiies by 60-70% while simultaneously buffing dmg for henchemen mobs tells me that the development team ROYALLY screwed up. shame becuase the char customization WAS awesome, but now if you dont build a defensive themed character your forced to group almost the etntire time you play or the weak bad guys are going to kick your @ss all over the place. Espcially if you dont have a flight based travel power.

Wow, this sounds as exciting as Hellgate.

I find it funny that this developer diary talks about a massive, persistent world, since Champions Online's world is comprised entirely of instances. There's hardly any "massive" in this MMOG.

Each of the major areas - Millennium City, Monster Island, Canadian Wasteland, Irradiated Desert, Lemuria, the tutorial - are instanced. When you travel to a new zone, a list of all the available instances pops up, and you can see that only 25-50 people are in each of the different versions of the zone.

This excessive use of instances and the lack of a huge, persistent world really killed the game for me. But hey, at least making superhero characters is fun. Excellent character customization should justify playing the game for the free month.

Champions Online is a much better MMO then City of Heros/City of Villians. Action is much more fast paced. There are a lot of options. PvP is there but not open PvP (thankfully). Lots of powers to mix and match. Lots of area to explore. Fun, fun, fun! (Yes....you do have to pay a monthly fee)

Wow, what a bunch of whiners. Why are there people complaining about paying monthly fees, if you haven't played an MMO before, than just keep quite about how broke you are. All critics aside I love this game. All MMO's are a grind of repetitive quests. It's all about the atmosphere and the community. I have found this community to be friendly and lacking in kids and young teen players. That helps with players being polite and making a fun environment. If you haven't played it's worth a month of your time for sure. Time will tell how long I will play this game, I played COH for over a year a loved it. Fingers crossed.

Until they add PvP... I'm not interested. PvP is the only thing that makes an MMO worth coming back to when u hit endgame or even the only thing to keep me satisfied while im lvling. I mean how fun can it really be to fight computer controlled monsters that do the same exact thing every time. I like prestige as in you can kill a bunch of people and make a name for yourself where other players will be like to hell with that guy... he's ballin outta control! No PvP, No Sale.

there are a couple of MMORPG's i would like to try out first so i can decide if it's worth to buy the whole game and pay per month. This game sure looks fun though

This game is a step in the right direction for getting out of the rpg mold for mmos.

Obviously we don't have the technology yet to cheaply support a true mmofps style game but some day we will.

I'm just really glad this game focuses on being more like an action game with out going instance based. (which is what all the mmofps games are that are comming out, basically mediocre shoots that require you to pay to play so you can have a really visual lobby)
