A great Hack and Slash

User Rating: 8.5 | Champions of Norrath PS2
Champions of Norrath's pattern should seem immediately familiar to anyone who's played a hack-and-slash RPG. there's character creation. The game features five different character classes, the barbarian, ranger, cleric, wizard, and shadow knight, and there are male and female counterparts for each class, though the gender choice is purely aesthetic. The class you choose, however, has a very real impact on what you'll be able to do in the game. It's all pretty predictable stuff, so the barbarian is a pure melee fighter, the wizard's a pure magic user, and the other three classes put varying emphases on magic, melee, and ranged attacks. They all have an array of spells and abilities to put to use such as poisoin, pet, and shielding speels to helpyou on your way. The game has 3 different difficulties and is fairly lengthy but the end seems to pass by very quickly. The game is fairly hard if you don't exploit the right characters and if you didn't choose the character that best suits you. Other than that it shouldn't be too hard. tHE DUNGEONS ARE VAST AND FULL OF BADDIES. They randomize to help your playing experience giving it more replay value. The sound is well done and the environments are beautiful. This is a game worth playing.
