Who says that today's adventure games can't match Monkey Island's style, atmosphere or fun while playing? I sure don't.

I guess that all of you who have played point 'n' click adventure games before got used to taking the role of the hero or the good guy in the story, who's supposed to do something to stop the evil threatening him personally, or even the whole world in the game. Well then, time for a change; and what a good change it is :)! Meet Ceville, the evil ruler of the kingdom of Faeryanis. He's just your average villain, hated by many and loved by none, but he doesn't mind it at all. He just goes on ruling for his own benefits, taking nothing else into consideration. Until that one day...
The people of Faeryanis call for a hero named Ambrosius to help them take Ceville down and end his tyranny. Even his personal guards decide to rebel against him, and they even put him behind bars. So much for the story telling, I'll let you discover the rest by yourselves, and believe me, you won't be left feeling disappointed. The story itself takes many twists and turns, and in the end you'll even find yourself playing with Ambrosius and Ceville (and let's not forget the cute Lilly, a small girl that follows Ceville from the very beginning of his adventure) together in their attempt to put a stop to something far worse than Ceville's dictatorship. The world of Faeryanis where you play for the entire game is truly a wonderful place. The colourful, cartoon graphics take us years back to the golden era of Lucas Arts-Sierra adventures. But it's not just the graphics that remind us of that period, but the humour as well. All throughout the game, as you play with both Ceville and his trusty companion Lilly, you'll hear them arguing about almost everything possible, which will result in a really funny dialogue or situation, and you'll never feel any of the jokes (some of them referring to other games/movies/celebrities) becoming repetitive. The choice to play with Ceville or Lilly is up to you at any moment, and is a welcome addition to the game, resulting in situations where you'll be able to solve some of the puzzles with only one of the characters (the other won't be capable, or won't want to do it). The difficulty of the game feels just right and you won't find yourself getting stuck for too long and becoming frustrated. Even if you don't know the solution to some puzzle, the cheerful atmosphere and medieval music and setting would make you search every place you've already been to and examine every possible object on the screen without feeling bored. Or you could just press the space key to see all objects available for interaction, and there's even the option to see all the possible combinations of an inventory object with an object/character in the game. Ceville is almost a bug-free game. There are some occasions when the characters get stuck between walls or big objects, but just click anywhere for them to go, and they will, no problem here. However, there is a bug with the saved games, so I'd recommend that you don't delete the auto-saved states because too much deleting can throw you out of the game and delete all the saved states, leaving you to start all over again. Then again, patches have been released, so these bugs may no longer exist in the patched versions. So, there you have it: A point and click adventure, with fairy-tale graphics, excellent story, well developed characters, cute music and atmosphere, reasonable amount of puzzles... Doesn't all of this make you feel an urge to remind yourself of the already mentioned golden era of adventure gaming? Besides, it's not everyday that we start an adventure where we take on the role of the villain in it, so at least give it a try... You'll end up satisfied, I guarantee it.
