Fun but outdated

User Rating: 5.4 | Centipede 2600
Centipede for the 2600 was one of the first games I ever played, and was so impressed by it's game play and selection of colour you could play it in. of course back then for us games any one of them would impress, I stayed up a nights playing this game to gets as far it could. I even still have it with my Atari in my room. Gameplay: (Arcade) 8/10 Basic your goal is just to shoot the centipede before it gets to the ground and kills you, you can try avoiding it if it dose but is very difficult to. If you manage to avoid these attacks it will start climbing back to the top and so on until you lose all your three lives. Parts of the centipede you shoot will cause it to change into some kind brick that will block will block them and will also help it to move down to you quicker, some of these are already here at the start of the level to make the game even harder for you. Shooting the spider will gain you more points. Graphics: 4/10 Years ago the look of this game would may have imprested some since you can play it any colour you want (green, blue, red, even black & white), but now comparing to today's games, there no much and dated. Sound: 3/10 The sound what you would expect from a made in 82. There is no music at all and the SFX don't sound anything like the real thing. Lifespan: 6/10 It really just one level the same as the last but the addictiveness of the gameplay to get as far as you can will take time out of you, it's a shame that your place on the scoreboard is deleted after you reset your console and the fact there's no multiplayer ether. Final Word: 56% Centipede is not a bad game at all, it's fun and addictive but compared to games we play today makes it not really worth the trouble to find it. Back in it's time I would give this game somewhere about 8.4, if your fan of old retro game then you will love it, but for those who prefer the games we have now should avoid.
