a game like this deserves some recognition
This game is a homage to the old 8 bit to 16 bit games back in the day. But it has a mix between the castlevania series and the metroid series. Let's get this started. You are an android who wakes up in a mysterious cave with no memory of who or what you are. The only instinct you have is to get out. Along the way you meet a strange race of bunny looking things called the mimigas. But things turn for the worst as one of them is kidnapped by an evil group who work for "the doctor". It is your mission to go through different levels and find out what is going on.
The graphics are astounding for an 8bit indie games. Every pixel works well with its environment and feels almost alive in a sense. The palette is bright and colorful, and every color compliments each other, no mish mash in it's design. The music is quite amazing, some times i stop playing for a moment and listen to the music in each area. This gives the player more immersion into the game. The story is an excellent example of story telling in its finest. The games makes you feel what the characters are feeling at the right moment, at the right time.
The difficulty is fair and challenging. There are certain parts that feel like your getting had but there is always away to get around it. For weapons you start out with a energy pistol(polar star), rocket launcher etc. There a good sizable variety and most are very balanced. You gain levels by collecting by what appears to be experience and your weapons get stronger. They become even more useful depending on what is going on in the environment , plus upgrades along the way. The games also has a lot of secrets to unfold which gives it replay value. Seriously there are so many , i haven't even found most of them.
In the end this game is a prime example of what makes a game a game. The thing that baffles me is that such a quality game like this is free. That is a good deal and still is. The game has spread across the market onto other versions. But if you want the full experience. Look it up on the internet why don't ya? and play this game....i'm serious, go right now and do it.
