Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Announcement Trailer (Xbox 360)

Wow... that's pretty much all I can say. LOVING the environments and overall look of this one, and it really seems like the story and characters are going to be more noteworthy than your average hack and slash fare. Oh... and Patrick Stewart. Did I mention him? That's worth the $60 right there...

@Mekkino I so agree. GoW is a fantastic series, however, it did not invent the third person hack and slash genre. Did it make it popular? Most definitely, but calling every game similar to it a clone is foolish. If this is like GoW. Then GoW is like DMC. And either way, it will rule on a most epic of scale.

i hate it when every hack and slash game is compared to GOW, its like saying that every First person shooter is a rip-off of the original Doom.

Looks great with some srumptious enemies and bosses. Let's hope it plays as well as GOW. As for the comparisons - so what. I'd much rather have this than a sub standard game with original ideas.

@ mahan-k (and everyone else): people compare games that are in the same genre, and they usually compare them to best examples of that genre. why are xbox fps' compared to halo? or why online multiplayer always compared to modern warfare? or dungeon crawlers to diablo? or, in this case, button mashers to gow? it's because those games are the best examples of their genre, and this is no different. beside, you can't deny that the cross whip around 1:15 doesn't look a little bit like the blades of chaos...just saying.

I'm a GOW fanboy and GOW1 is my favorite game of all times, but stop comparing every button masher game to GOW trilogy. Amazing trailer btw!

I would like to see more of this as well. I've never really payed attention to older Castlevania games, this hack/slash thing looks interesting here, I might give it a try, if the results are the same I got from God of War, well hell to this, GoW ain't my style.

I'd like to see more of this but I like the environments. Castlevania always takes place in a dilapidated castle or something of the sort so a nice, pristine sunset makes the game look a lot different from past iterations

stop comparing every button masher to god of war because god of war was not even close to being the first button masher game i am pretty sure devil may cry was so all games like this and god of war are copy's of devil may cry i am not a big fan of button mashers but no button masher is better either than dmcbut no reason to compare any game

@Koi-Neon-X: Ugh dude, I really don't wanna argue about this. To me there's nothing wrong. I'm sorry if you found it offensive, I draw the line at using his actual name. I'm a monolatrist, so as far as I'm concerned, "goddamn" with small letters is referring to any 'god', not God. And I did see the trailer and the similarities, but it's like comparing Arkham Asylum and Splinter Cell Conviction. There's really no reason to.

Plus, I don't know if you saw the trailer of the new Castlevania game but, if you haven't then take a look. It's pretty difficult to not compare the two. Actually, it's the first thought I had when I saw the trailer. Sorry, but in this case it DOES need to compared because the similarities are too hard to ignore.

@Koi-Neon-X: I said goddamn, not his name. I don't use Jesus Christ or anything like that. Also, just because GoW is a great Action Adventure game, doesn't mean that every other action adventure game that comes out needs to be compared to GoW3.

Looks really good, but I hope that all this action do not take away something important in the previous titles: The exploration element. Fighting all those ghouls was fun, but it really was all about exploring the rooms, finding items and secrets... Good times.

Wow. The voice acting is phenomenal from what little I heard, and sounds like it may have a great story, too. If the action holds up then this game just might give GoW3 a run for its money. That'd be a good thing, too, cause who doesn't want a thats actually BETTER than a masterpiece?

It'll be nice to have some decent scripting and voice acting in a Castlevania game for a change. It's one of my favorite series of all time, but the dialogue, whether written, spoken, or both, has been pretty awful, like the drek at the beginning of SOTN.

I liked the Castlevania games. Watching this trailer I'm thinking "This games should be renamed Castlevania : The God Of War"... I like God of War so much but if I want to play Castlevania, I don't want to feel llike playing God of War.

Heh... I just got done playing GoW3 right before I watched this trailer. I gotta tell ya I felt like I was still playing it when I watched this trailer. Sucks to fall into the shadow of another game. That section of the clip where he had the chains attached to the head of that monster totally made me think of Hades. :P
