This game had a lot of qualities, yet several stupid details prevented it from being great.

This game started off great, but pretty soon became dull. Repetitive dungeons and crazy backtracking coupled with not bad but not very exciting battles. The graphics are some of the best on PS2 but lazy camera means you'll never see the half of it unless you manually decide to look at the ceiling. Too bad, that's where it really gets gothic !

The story was really good and fits perfectly inthe castlevania timeline. It's nt that it's bad, quite the opposite : it looked so promising and didn't live up to the expectatons. Hell, this is Castlevania, fans expect the best.

If you love the franchse don't be affraid to go buy the game, it's mostly good and you'll have fun, it's not going to ruin your Castlevania fondness. If you're not a fan, however, it's a cool game if you're into medieval stuff and vampires, think soul reaver, but other than that it's just an average game.
