If you enjoyed the challenge and depth that Circle of the Moon offered, you may be a bit dissapointed with HOD. While the graphics have improved greatly, it seems as though the difficulty and strategy have been stripped down. The bosses are large and extremely detailed, but most can be killed using the same technique and are too easy. Most of the the spells and items seem more like a gimmick than a necessity, allowing you to breeze through this one without even using special abilities. Juste could also use some more animation, as he has a very stiff jump attack which looks akward. By now you probably know that the music is probably the most dissapointing aspect of this game. Especially since the older games have some of the best music in video games period. In the end, this is still a great game to hold over Castlevania fans for now. I found myself unable to put down the addictive gameplay Konami has been creating for years. It also contains a quality that puts it at the top of GBA games to own.
