I hope you remember all your curse words...

If you were to judge me on my screename, you could probably figure out that I am a fan of Konami's long running Castlevania series. (Give yourself a gold star!) As such, I had to find this limited release title when it came out 4 or so years ago on the already deceased PS1.

That said, this game is for Castlevania fans ONLY! Why do I say that? Its really quite simple. All you Castlevania fans from the NES remember the insane difficulty level of those games? Well, its back in full force with Chronicles.

Though that makes total sense, seeing as Chronicles is a re-release of an older game for the SharpX6000. Never heard of the "X600"? Well, it was a Japan only personal computer, so you never saw it, or this game.

But back to the difficulty. Castlevania pros, this game is every bit as difficult as you remember your Castlevania games. That's why I don't particularly recommend it for anybody else. But if you must, it a difficulty adjuster for the arrange mode.

Arrange mode? Well, rather then just re-release the game, IGA and his team decided to create a version of the game with totally redone music and character sprites as well as add new CG-Cinemas. This redone version of the game can be made easier for the casual player.

Lucky for us pros though, they left the original game there as well. The old music and graphics, as well as the un-adjustable difficulty. I personally think that the original game is the most difficult Castlevania ever! So be prepared to curse at the screen repeatedly if your the angry type.

The game even features a few unlockables, though its nothing spectacular, an Ayami Kojima art gallery, a Time Attack mode and an interview with IGA. (Where he states his desire to bring Dracula X to U.S. shores! PLEEEZ!) A good package for fans, but might be way to hard for anyone else...
