This game is fun. Period. It's best enjoyed with multi-player, but the single player mode is very enjoyable as well. My only complaint is that the single player mode is essentially require if you want to quickly level your character up. The artwork is very eye-catching, and perfectly reflects the game's juvenile (but nevertheless amusing) sense of humor. The music and sound design is likewise also a perfect fit. The controls are never an obstacle to enjoying the game either. They are highly responsive and, perhaps more importantly, accessible even for less experienced gamers. I liked the ability to turn the gore off so my kids could enjoy the game without my wife cringing.
I think the best feature of this game by far is the level design. There are a lot of very ordinary hack-and-slash levels, and I can't help but feel as though I really ought to have been bored by the game. But the ordinary nature of these levels are perfectly punctuated by hidden items, and interesting (if often a bit too easy) boss fights. And the rewards for leveling up, such as new combat combos or spells, add just enough additional "just one more go" to the game to keep real boredom from setting in.
