The Bottom Line:
"Too short"
Capcom VS SNK 2, takes place during the new melinum for the 2001 international tournament, your objective; is to create a team and dominate the competition. So do you have what it takes? Then this game might be for you; however if your into a unique "clash" of 2 fighting game series colliding then your probably gonna be interested in this game. Everyone is basically fimilar with Capcom's "street fighter" series, (e.g. Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li), while another world collides with the street fighter universe, the SNK universe. Some examples are shown (e.g. Kyo, King, Raiden). Well I've been mainly a fan on the capcom side, but when I played this game, I had some new thoughts about the SNK team.

Controls: 7/10

The control scheme can be sorta tedious; for example, the game features 2 types of styles. They are the GC controls, and the EO controls (have to check at it again). The GC control allows for usage of special moves, like Ryu's hardouken, can be simply be used with the C-Stick, instead of the traditional inputs; however one tedious effect about these controls are that the A, X, Y, buttons on the Gamecube controller, are not used when using this style system. When using the "EO" style control, it's very traditional playing like in regular fighting game, street fighter wise, you have to use the "traditional" inputs to execute the special moves you desire to use when in a certain situation in a fight. Mastering either of these control schemes will make your experience with this game make it quite worthwhile.

Graphics 7/10

I'm sorta surprised at how Capcom used the graphics engine in this game. Some of the character sprites looked too wiereded out on some occasion for example "Morrigan" looks too cheesy in some cases, and some of the character sprites looked just plain terrible in the 2d-3d dimensional arenas when in game play. This made me quite dissipointed, because most of the sprites are really enriched developed and makes the game play experience quite pleasing. In my opinion the art is sorta like a joke to me, it's like saying capcom needed money and funds to make the game fun, the art on the character selection screen changes when you choose C-A-or P grooves; however, on the S-N-K grooves you get a different selection of how you look at them, made me sorta freaked out, some of the art doesn't match with the game's styles. Graphics aren't bad, nor good either so it's basically average for the regular gamecube's graphics card.

Gameplay 7.5/ 10

I've really had an excellent time with the game; although it's having some flaws when i first had it, for example the fighting styles. There are 6 styles or rather "grooves" that make some experimenting fun. Capcom's C-A-P grooves are from capcom's side and have very good ability's, for example, you have to think of what "groove" you need to choose you need to think of how you play in a regular fighting game, 'Would you play with combos?, or you'd prefer to play 3 level gage system?', these involves in several ability's, if you choose "C Groove" then you have the ability's to "air guard, roll, and have a special move released at anytime on any level, and a 3 level gauge systems", i don't wanna get into details but choosing the right styles will make you want to use that groove over, and over again. Now as for stages, it lacks, you can go to mostly places in Japan (Osaka JPN,), and one place in the US which is New York. The stages look enrich but i get annoyed at playing the place over and over again, it irritates me, but fun to look at though...

In conclusion the game is average, keeping this brief because i have many things to do. If you like fighting games, and your a gamecube owner, then renting or trying this out won't really do no harm, playing something with a unique playing style gives you a lot of new experiences and enriches your control experiences.
