Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO -- A Complete Travesty

User Rating: 4.4 | Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO: Millionaire Fighting 2001 GC
I'm an old school gamer and I've always enjoyed 2-D fighters. Heck, I'm even a Street Fighter 2 veteran--I owned three versions of the game for the SNES back in the early nineties, and rare was the day when anyone could compete with my mad street fighting skills. Even today, years upon years since I've played the originals, I can still remember at least one or two moves for all the fighters in the opening lineup.

All that is what makes games like Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO even more disappointing. I never jumped on the Capcom vs. SNK bandwagon in the first place. It seems like there's hundreds of identical renditions spread out all over dozens of consoles, and none of them are distinct or possess any level of quality whatsoever. CVS2EO is perhaps one of the worst offenders around--it has substandard presentation and an absolutely terrible control setup. You can tell just by playing this game that absolutely no one who worked on it gave a rat's butt. It might be fun to play every once in a blue moon if you only own a Gamecube and have no other way to get your Street Fighter fix--but why would any Gamecube owner play this outdated and inferior game when they could play Soul Calibur II or Super Smash Bros. Melee?
