The Game Shows Us A Lot Of Damaging Aspects Of Itself,Yet Minor Good Features Does Not Standout All Together.
As I mentioned in the last section this game is utterly known for the landscapes it offers.From the deserts of the wild west to beautiful nature like sceneries of forests, hills and mountains.Obviously this latest game in the series is trying to create innovation and that is always something good in the gaming industry.There are several characters in the game,to begin with you can choose 1 out of the 3 characters.Straight away you are going to feel that there is gonna be different endings which is very new for Call Of Juarez.
The 3 characters are going to be working together on a case just like one of those action movies we have all seen before.The story keeps unfolding as you progress.You also learn different things about each character mostly by the dialogue and the conversation you have with each other.The story isnt that bad but lets be honest, you have seen these kinds of action movies 100 times in the Cinemas,TV Series,and DVDs, but this time its on a Video Game!!.So the story is not new and trust me you have seen it before,but im not saying its bad, but it could have been different in many ways.Im still saying the story is worth playing once and thats it.Nothing more.
What they have been trying to do here is that, they wanted to mix two things together,one element would be the "Wild West" the second is the so called "Modern Society" and the modern ways of living.These two elements can be seen all over the game glowing and showing off.
Can I just say that the graphics did not please me at all.I was hoping to see the exact details of the wild west only in a city scale which we did not get,so what I was hoping was to see all those great details that we see in the streets and in big cities but it just wasnt there,you really couldnt feel the streets, how can i put it it felt very fake and plastic like,there was nothing there yo make you stand up.Also I can mention here that the game sometimes confuses you because here you are in an open world style game and the story is on going ,you have no idea where to go and who to follow and you just have to listen to your partners conversation and wait for it to end then you might be able to see a pointer that you can follow.The quality of the guns are perfect for me.They look pretty good but not the shooting nore the aiming system is good enough.The guns actually move about while you are aiming at your targets,im not sure trying this hard to make something look realistic is good for video games,instead it makes the game look a bit stupid.Neither the voices nore the sound effects are pleasing ,you should at least have great sound effects for the weapons,i mean the shooting, reloading and swapping, thats the least you can have on a first person shooter.Altogether the graphics of the game was very poor and simply at some point in the game,for example the explosions and the fires where out of order.There was major fog like atmosphere during 80% of the levels in the game which was actually horrible.You couldnt see anything at the far away distance(this is very important since its FPS we are talking about, you should be able to see into great distance and see wonderful details,clearly because its a first person shooter). Another damaging feature was the indoor lightning.Mostly the rooms and those kinds of areas always looked very dull and had not been perfectly lit.
moving on and the 3d models where good, I would call it acceptable and the texture that 70% of the game had was also very good.Main characters could have had more polygons when modeled and reached perfection. I dont know why we didnt see that and again when we are talking about FPS here guys, we are hoping to get the best models and textures since we are very close to everything and it is like a super close camera angle to everything.The lipsync.Of the characters could have been much much better.
In the manner of gameplay another thing that bothered me was that,usually while playing you will get surrounded by you partners and you cannot move past them,this was the most annoying thing I experienced in this game,its like they have set deflectors with in each character and they all get stuck around each other,pretty annoying indeed ,not sure if its a bug or something,what ever it was it was annoying.The icing on the top of this cake was the driving part.Ok if you dont know, every now and then you are given a driving mission.You get behind the wheels,the camera is a first person, dashboard like and you drive to a destination.Why in the world would they allow us to drive?are they trying to translate the horse riding sequence from the last series to this one by letting us drive cars on roads?
It is clear that some features on this game is totally wrong and has not been set or placed there perfectly some features almost feels like they have been forced in to the game such as the driving I just talked about.
Altogether,Call Of Juarez The Cartel is aiming to be at the top and we simply see the efforts they are making,but maybe by mixing two ingredients that will never work together you might destroy both ingredients that could be useful on their own.
The graphics is somewhat good,game play could have been a lot better.I suggest to keep COJ in its original shape.On the other hand graphics has to improve immensely.The side missions looked more like a joke.
Im looking forward to another classical Call Of Juarez western style and not the modern one we just talked about.Hope you enjoyed the review.
