Call of Duty: World at War Video Review

This and Black Ops 1 are the only decent COD titles.

Modern Warfare didn't nail it when it comes to multiplayer. Modern Warfare is quite possibly the worst multiplayer first person shooter ever created. 

When you think about it, this game really captures the brutality and horrors of war, instead of MW3 and Battlefield. It reminds me of Homefront, not because of the gameplay, but because it also depicts war at it's goriest and scariest points. I also agree that Treyarch is more eccentric in it's games, because IW stayed on MW for 3 games (5 years in total), and TA covered WWII, the Cold War, some parts of Korea and Vietnam warring states, and soon will cover near-future conflicts in BO2. 

I disagree with this guy. I'm not saying Modern Warfare was a bad game but it isn't anywhere near as good as World At War. That is mainly because I am a World War 2 fanatic but still. Similiarity shimilarity.

I always find that WWII themed shooters do a far better job of capturing the horrors of war (or at least how I imagine it). The weapons and gadgets usable in modern ones make the fights very clinical and detached whereas when you've got a rifle with a bayonet it's far grittier and more personal.

Regardless of setting shooters should be played on PC. I need only point you to the zombies clip in this review where he scores three or four headshots without once pointing his gun at a zombie's head, too easy!

@3116porter Looking at previous and later CoD games you can see that Activision has really turned into a game making company that cares only about money and makes games with the same engine every year. It has been a very good company until they made Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3.

im still playing Call of Duty World at War Multiplayer and Coop on my PC today , I never leave any of series call of duty and world at war graphics are better than MW3 8 Times!

Ahh yeah! I LOVED this game on my Wii. I think I'm about to go buy the pc version.

I really prefer WWII rather then this modern shooters like MW3 and BF3, it feels like playing the same game over and over again.

I actually prefer Treyarch over Infinity Ward even though they basically just copy IW's formula. Treyarch's COD games seem to have more personality and are more atmospheric in my opinion.

@Renoo27. This is my point, that games should just be reviewed on their own basis. We get too much silly comparison in the gaming media we wouldn't get in other entertainment media. Modern film makers still make B/W movies, and they don't get slagged off for "lack of graphics" In gaming every RPG, for example, is compared to the $30 million Oblivion, so if you have a perfectly good quality $10 million Witcher or Two Worlds 2, they are somehow inferior. To suggest that only COD4 players would be interested in this game is another sign of how we have an immature media, and gamers that seem to be getting dumber all the time.

Nothing familiar to me... never played C.O.D... might as well owe it to myself and buy this one.

@Humorguy_basic: Maybe because, for one thing, it came stright after Modern Warfare, so people naturally are gonna be interested to see how it's the same and how it differs. And if it is, like he says, very similar to Modern Warfare, people who liked that will probably like this.

Reviewers can never see gamers as intelligent individuals, but rather only as a mass to be manipulated. This reviewer did not think for a moment that there might be gamers out there that aren't interested in Modern Warfare, but is in WWII warfare! I am one of those, I will not buy fantasy based modern warfare shooters with their gadgets and weapons that shoot themselves almost - I want the in your face historical action, when guns jam and you have to think more! It's the reason that Call of Duty United Offensive if my favourite and not CoD 4 that the gaming media assuming is the only CoD we like!

The only good thing about the game is Nazi Zombies, stupid single player game where you die all the time because of grenades flying all over the place and hard to get away from them, and there are no bots in MP. The zombie mode is really good.

world at war zombies is scary and better then black ops zombies

This game didnt seem to get the credit it deserved, instead it all went for modern warfare 2 which is now full of hackers

it seems like a lot of people hated this game, but I LOVED it!!!! The campaign was great, the multiplayer was awesome when the connection was good, and the introduction of nazi zombies was the icing on the cake. HERE'S TO YOU WAW:)!!!!!

I would only get this game because of the zombie mode, my first WWII shooter, co-op campaign and the flamethrower. The multiplayer, ill stick with CoD 4.

Call of Duty World at War still looks great and plays great. Even in these days it would pass for an excellent shooter.

Familiar setting and weapons? What would you expect buddy? BFG-9000 and legions of demons instead of Nazis? It's still the same World War 2 as in other Call of Duty games.

Guys cod world at war may be old but pc and xbox are still with a lot of people online today its not as good as black ops but is it better than most ww2 games that are like 100 yaers old guys buy this game or go with digital purcase on www.gamestop.com but you need 8 GB but make shure your video card is new bucase i downloaded this game and my video card was too old so i am geeting a new one but seriosly buy this game its so frekin awsome

xboxwii360, this compares to mw1 because they are basically the same game, but in a different era of time. What is so offsetting about it is that, its a retake WWII style,of the game everyone got exited about last year.

im sick of ww2 games so idk see how people think this even compares to mw 1 and maybe 2
