Treyarch's second stab at the illustrious Call of Duty series goes out with a bang - fortunately, a good one.

User Rating: 8.5 | Call of Duty: World at War WII
Ah, World at War. Though it pales in comparison to Treyarch's latest project of bringing Modern Warfare to the Wii, it is a very solid game. (Also, thanks to MWR, you can pick up a copy for twenty bucks!) Set in World War II, you play through the campaign from the perspective of a young Marine Raider rescued from captivity in an island raid, and a young Russian soldier eager to erase the stain of the Third Reich from the world.

Campaign is longer than Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's, but gives more depth as well. As a Marine Raider, you progress from getting away from savage enemies on a small, remote island to participating in, and completing the assault on Okinawa's Shuri Castle. Our Russian friend goes from the bloodiest days of the Nazi occupation of Stalingrad, Russia to the very heart of Berlin to crush the last remnant of the Nazi Party in Europe.

Multiplayer is a solid experience, with lots of diversity between maps, and between guns themselves, but with the lack of players due to MWR hitting the Wii, and with the frequent hackers (a la Cliffside), it degrades the experience a bit.

Overall, World at War is a solid title for the Wii. Treyarch is feeling the waters a bit, but the game itself is fun as can be.
