Sledgehammer Games' Glen Schofield ran us through a new level from the upcoming shooter, set in the French capital of Paris.

Modern Warfare 3 is now less than a month away. For the 30 million or so people that Activision claims are playing a Call of Duty game, that's big news. But despite the numerous trailers, previews, and screens that are now out in the open, we're still in the dark about many of the game's single-player missions. Thankfully, Sledgehammer recently visited London to show off a new campaign level, this time set in Paris.

Check out our interview with Glen Schofield to find out more about the game.

The level in question was called Iron Lady, in reference to the Eiffel Tower that sits at the heart of Paris. Washington is burning, New York is occupied, and we picked up the action about halfway through the single-player campaign. You're playing as Delta Force, and it's your job to find out some critical information from a high-value target, after a previous mission goes bad.

In typical Call of Duty fashion, the perspective changed dramatically between on-the-ground and in-the-air action. The level opens with a helicopter getting shot down--a huge explosion followed by menacing screeching as the rotor blades make their way towards you. After they stop just in front of you, the camera jumps into the now-familiar AC-130 gunship, allowing you to lay down gunfire and rockets while trying not to destroy Paris' historic buildings.

For more Modern Warfare 3, check out the latest single-player trailer.

The AC-130 soon comes under attack from a group of Russian jets, so the action snaps back into first-person view. You and the rest of Delta Squad make your way through a building, out through greenhouses and into a courtyard. The level offered a good mix of weaponry, from assault rifles and sniper rifles to a mounted machine gun. After this, the demo ended with another AC-130 section, with the gunner choosing to bring down an entire building in dramatic fashion, despite the earlier warning.

It was a short demo, but just enough to show off how bombastic this Call of Duty is going to be. There were some nice touches to take away too, including the destructible balcony that enemy soldiers were using for cover. Thankfully, we won't have to wait long for more Modern Warfare 3--the game launches worldwide on 8 November.

Hmmm... Does this mean I should stop playing COD1 now and buy MW3? For me I'll say that was the best campaign...

But, I'm not buying BF3 OR MW3. COD and BF are losing their allure for me, I believe the same COD engine is still being used since COD4 (but I may be wrong about that one) so everything seems the same. The way people move in 3rd person, the way the game plays all together, etc. BF has gotten very interesting with the introduction of destructible environments. But, neither appeal to me anymore. If anyone here knows anything about BF2 mods they will understand when I say modders are doing a lot more for an old game on their own time than workers are on a new game with a salary. I've seen BF3.. Didn't like it. (though I have 1942, Vietnam, and BF2) I've seen MW3... Didn't like it. (though I have COD 1, 2, and 5) Looks way to generic. I simply flat out refuse to pay 60$ for a game it feels I've already played. They've actually gotten boring for me... I simply do not like either one anymore.

About 2 months ago i still was in doubt, but Battlefield 3 was sure a let down, at least so it seems by the demo. Anyway i'm crazy to get my hands on this.

A true hater wouldnt have bothered reading any articles on COD. You read it because you are interested in the game and like the rest of the world will buy it anyway. Frankly I love COD for it entertainment value. Everybody does. Everybody enjoyed the last two mw campaigns. sales said so. and like sheep we all know that none of us want to be playing black ops into next year. its just not procedure. Mw3 will rock. Supposed haters will spend more time playing it than BF3. It happens every year and i think its great. I know ill dig mw3 and so do you. You know its true.

I just hope that they don't make the single player campaign too short.

this looks like the same old stuff from the last game, and the game before that, and the one before that, etc.

plus, actision fired everyone who even made CoD4 good in the first place. I think i'll pass and just pick up BF3 instead.

@slonekb05 i feel the same way with many games to date...so many games now days feel linear, small and rather short...but the games arnt entirely to blame...its the consoles...Large open maps, with high resolution pretty graphics and destructable environments are require alot of power....There are many tech restrictions devs are facing im sure, especially with xbox...bf3 is prolly the one game that is pushing the consoles to their near breaking point.

i like COD so plz dont get on me about how im hating . but the main beef for everyone is it feels like your fighting in an arena not really a battlefield. nothing explodes the " Good spots" on maps are always the same because there is no destructibility other than the occasional car. Id like to see them progress the series and add destructibility to the game. i really dont see what there waiting for. i understand sticking to what works, but at some point change is a good thing.

People are always going to pine for earlier games when they still had some magic to them. I'm not sure what people want producers to add to games that are awesome on their own without some critical new piece of technology added to it.

For a fast-paced, arcade style shooter, CoD has it perfected. In terms of a battle simulator, there is much lacking.

they only put the extra effort to give u a better singleplayer COD this year just because there is big competition from battefield 3... Imagine if there is no battlefield 3 and they will give u de same s*** since mw1 ... though i muz say i was impressed at point of release when mw1 came out but nt anymore
