- Jan 30, 2012 11:35 am GMThow is this games online? is it plagued by hackers/cheaters? or is that not that big of a problem? ive played all cod games up until mw3 on xbox, but now i have a pc that can handle games and im looking to get into a new one, thanks.

the funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it. - Jan 30, 2012 3:39 pm GMT
If you still have Xbox just stick to it for COD games. Why are they even bothering releaseing COD games on the PC at this point is beyond me. Get BF3.
BF3 = PC
MW3 = consoles
- Jan 30, 2012 5:38 pm GMTseriously though, are there a lot of hackers? i want this game on my PC but not if its full of cheaters.
i have bf3, and can run it on high/ultra, but i need a little variety. - Jan 31, 2012 5:38 am GMT
I wouldn't know. I have BF3 for Pc and got MW3 but for my PS3. I needed some variety too
.Go to steam forums. It's pretty active. Haven't played it on the PC, but there's lots of complaints for cheaters and hackers. It doesn't look good.
- Feb 1, 2012 3:04 am GMTIf you haven't taken the time to read the various topics here, of which the bad vastly outweigh the good, concerning this trash of a game...allow me to set the record straight.
This game is an utter abomination.
Not only that...the community of COD today is equally abominable.
The franchise is dead. What you have left is an empty, soulless cadaver that is jam-packed with so much fluff its simply embarrassing.
This game is a total disgrace to the once great COD series. COD1 (along w/ United Offensive), COD2, and COD4 will remain as the only great games in this series. MW3, like MW2, compared to those, is sheer crap. Too many things wrong with this game. Both broken and lackluster in its design.
Not to mention IW, with the lack of true talent (they went to Respawn Entertainment)...became lazy as well. They actually re-used a lot of assets from prior games. In fact, they went so far as to utilize the exact same building from Pipeline (COD4 Multiplayer map) in one of the levels in the SP campaign in MW3 (Back on the Grid).
Quite shameful...considering the financial backing this game should have.
For more specific reasons, check the other topic with like 33 replies. I go into detail as to why this game blows. And as to why I will not only never buy another IW or Treyarch game again, but will boycott any game published by Activision.
Having a douche like Bobby Kotick get even more rich off my money doesn't sit well with me any more. **** him and **** the current COD series. - Feb 2, 2012 1:57 am GMTTotally agree with you there Re-Animator.
COD RIP!
It's time to move on to something different.
The sales figures are showing that MW3 sold far less than Black Ops.
This franchise is dead.
Activation have quite literally killed the goose that lays the golden eggs ... now those eggs are running out.

You, you, and you - Panic! The rest of you, come with me. - Feb 6, 2012 9:37 am GMTThe game is fine, I'm having a lot of fun!
Just don't expect the game to be something it isn't.
Is it as good as Bf? No, for it is an arcade shooter, where it is about fun, not realism. - Feb 6, 2012 9:50 pm GMT
I've always played Call of Duty on 360 and I thought I'd try out the pc version for once. Do yourself a favor and stay clear of the pc version. It's plagued with wall hacks and aim bots. I'd say it averages out to a cheater every 2 to 3 games.

So what you're saying is people shouldn't expect this game to be a balanced shooter that is free from severe netcode issues where lag isn't part of 8/10 games?
They shouldn't expect for weapons to be balanced. They shouldn't expect for a spawn system that doesn't respawn the person you just killed right behind you for an easy revenge kill that occurs 7/10 times?
They also shouldn't expect well designed MP maps that don't have collision issues where you can never get stuck on many of the objects that clutter most of the maps?
And much, much more.
What it all comes down to is this. Some people don't mind the smell of garbage...while others do. You are well within your right to like to play with garbage. And just because you like to play with garbage doesn't arbitrarily mean it is now not garbage. It is, and will always remain garbage from many factual points. You'll just have to come to terms with the fact that some games you like to play (MW3 in this case) are garbage.
It has nothing to do with this game being arcadey or not. There are many arcade shooters that are fun. And they are fun because they were well made. This game is not well made and has a lot of issues across the board. Issues, that I promise you...will never....EVER be resolved. Just take a look at MW2 if you don't believe me.
The reason for these issues that are never taken care of is, in my opinion, their utilization of a policy known as planned obsolescence. - Feb 13, 2012 4:07 am GMTI like playing shooters on PC, not xbox.
However there aren't many players on PC compared to xbox, and a lot of hackers. Not every game, but you're bound to find an aimbotter at least once a day

At least!
The only shooters worth playing on PC anymore are the ARMA series and BF series. I miss the good old days where PC shooters were made for PC gamers in mind. Now it's the other way around. Virtually all PC shooters are poor console ports. Sad.
I miss the days of Quake 3 Arena, Unreal Tournament (and the chaotic hilarity caused by LOLMAN on the Facing Worlds map), Rainbow Six series, Medal of Honor: AA, COD (up to COD4), and especially...Tribes!!! Tribes was such a bad ass and fun game.
For the most part, today we have this uninspired, cookie-cutter model where shooters feel empty and lack soul. Not to mention great, or even good design. - Feb 14, 2012 5:33 am GMTThanks for the reminder Re-Animator - good old days with Unreal Tournament.
We used to play at work during lunch break. Facing Worlds was a classic map!
New maps were created by players and distributed for free.
The old PC games had one thing that the new one's seem to have forgotten - FUN!

Agreed!
Today, this business is heavily crippled by the greedy bureaucracy of publishers. No more pure dedicated servers. Little to no SDK's for fans to create mods. Why? Because they want to create the mods for you for money and are afraid of consumers having more talent to create better maps (and they can) for free...like in the good old days.
I do have to hand it to Bethesda though, they still allow user created content and provide their fans the creation tools. So there may be some hope. But Activision is dead to me. I will never buy another game from that publisher ever again. And I'll spread my convictions to as many as I can...like a virus!
Activision do not care about it's consumers. AT ALL. They utilize policies of planned obsolescence into their games...which is abhorrent. They take the terms greed and unethical practices to a new, shameful level.
Support such an entity? I'd rather give up gaming altogether before I give so much as a single one of my butt hairs for one of their products again. - Feb 17, 2012 4:00 pm GMTGraphics= Sub par half decade old engine (I run on max at 90 Fps which is when the frame rate locks)
Gameplay= Generic (nothing compared to BF3 IMO)
sound- Generic military music (mostly)
.....atleast the shooting is pretty satisfying and the single player was decent even if it was short but the mp is unbalanced and easy. As for survival, it is nowhere near as good as zombies and probably never will be in my opinion but it can be alright if you like shooting at dumb AI
overall 3 out of 10 in my opinion....bad game - Feb 22, 2012 4:48 pm GMTwow re_animator, just wow. you're probably the most pathetic user i've seen here in a long time. holy ****..

Another typical response from someone with nothing to say that contains any kind of intrinsic value. So yes, let's talking about who is pathetic.
Do my words, that have absolutely nothing to do with you, make you that uptight? I've noticed this trend with "people" such as you. I suggest douching before reading posts like this...for your own benefit. That and lot and lots of lubrication...to avoid anal chafing. - Feb 24, 2012 8:32 am GMT
There's nothing wrong with telling the truth, if even one person stumbles on to one of these posts and decides not to waste his cash on this nicely packaged diarrhea, this cancer of video gaming then good.
Anyway at the insistence of a friend I decided to play with him(I don't own the game, used someone else's account).
In the 30 minutes we played, we encountered several hackers.
In one match for instance, 5 of the 6 players on the opposite team were hacking, four wallhackers and one aimbotter.
We tried several different matches and every single one had at least one hacker.
And if hackers aren't enough there's the typical CoD player who sits in a corner with akimbo whatever and waits for someone to pass by.
Growing up I used to play Counter-Strike, Quake and Unreal, so to me Deathmatch means fast paced action, being on the move all the time and actually working to earn kills.
Some game types are suited for camping, sure, but not DM/TDM.
Spending a match hunting for campers is not fun.
And then there's lag compensation.
Emptying half your magazine into a player's head/chest before he has a chance to react, only to have him spray like an idiot and kill you is not acceptable.
If anything it should be the opposite, it shouldn't matter who shot first, but who was more accurate.
Using Counter-Strike as an example, if you're a new player, your aim blows and you're not used to the recoil.
If you catch an experienced player with his pants off, even if you fire first he's more likely to kill you because he has already learned to handle the recoil and got used to aiming.
Oh and let's not forget the horrible spawn system.
TL;DR, this game is a joke, Re-Animator is right and Sledgehammer suck at what they do.
