Wow casuals are dumb. This was in someone's comment on facebook. I just had to come here and post it to see what you guys would say about it.

Someone should seriously quote this (put it in their sig), and maybe put a "# of people depressed by this" or something for the 2nd line, or do whatever you want. I mean, my sig is a little pre-occupied right now, and by the time this **** happens, I'm gonna forget about this. Probably.

I wouldn't have taken that seriously.

But you should also be aware that "old school" is extremely relative.

Imagine if he said "COD4. Old school." People would be depressed by that and talk about the golden days of Quake 3. "Quake 3. Old School". But what about Quake 1? How about Wolfenstein? How about Face Ball?

It's all relative. Quit being elitist about it.

This. Also, a lot of people say things they don't really mean. He could have been saying old school but know it's not really that old anyway.

Meh, I would have quietly made fun of Mr. "Old School" MW2 gamer dude. As it's certainly a pretty silly thing to call that old school. Don't know what stick is up the butt of whatever people who decided to reply with dickishness to your topic.

Thank you. Someone that sees it my way. I figured YOU GUYS would be flipping out, which is why I said "I just wanted to see what you guys would think about this." (sorry if not exact quote)

I don't care whatsoever. I thought it was funny. Kind of like a sig that I saw that said "What's the point of playing videogames if they're not FPS's?" I just thought that was funny, I didn't get mad bro.

And I don't think you can qualify something as old school if it can compete with today's graphics and there's still over 500,000 people (idk the real number) playing it still.

    EDIT:

Forgot to mention, this came from pot-smoking skaters that probably didn't graduate high school on time. Like, the kind of d-bags that abuse their girlfriends...basically the last type of guy you'd want your daughter/sister/whatever dating.

Dude, just stop. All you're doing is coming off as a condescending ass, with your constant flaming of others and whatnot.

The reason why no one is flipping out is because no one cares (enough to).

EDIT: Aether is right. People say dumb things all the time, that's why no one gets worked over things like this. Well, unlike TC.

This actually is depressing, but I hear "casuals" say stupid stuff all the time so it's nothing new. A 2 year old game can't be old school no matter how you slice it, especially when it's exactly the same stuff as the recent CoDs.

Regarding the topic title: If written it might just have been irony.

technically MW2 is old school. There's been two COD released since it, so therefore the "casual" was correct in what he said. My friend hits me up on XBox and asks me to get down on some "throwback Black Ops sessions". And in case you didn't know, cause you seem like a herb, throwback and old school are basically the same term.

    You playin' MW3?

    Naw, coconut football, old school.

Seemed pretty tongue in cheek to me. Obviously nothing to get worked up over.

Similar to those turbo nerds that flip out if you call the enemies in RE5 "zombies."
  • Feb 23, 2012 1:55 pm GMT
If you get worked up over something this dumb, you might have problems. TC, I'd suggest some anger management classes.

I was playing CoD 4 once and my friend said that's old school. I wouldn't consider a 4 year old game to be old school.
