Before I write my review...I just want to state I'm not a Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare fanboy. Played the game for 2-3 months in 2007 and really enjoyed it. Played a dozen times or so after that. So take that into consideration when I review this one. Enjoy!

Modern Warfare 2 is as awesome as we all had expected it to be. It is the sequel to the game that shocked and surprised most people. No one really had the original Modern Warfare game on their minds until E3 2007 where the epic demo was shown. No one imagined how popular the first game would become after its release. It had basically made people stop caring about Halo 3 only 2 months after it came out. But enough about Modern Warfare...let's get on to the review.

Now I usually don't get too excited for first person shooters. Don't get me wrong...I enjoy them and find them highly entertaining but I usually don't get too hyped for them. They are mostly the same in my opinion. However, I personally really enjoyed the original Modern Warfare, especially because I had no expectations, so I was anticipating this one as a must buy.

Now I know alot of you don't really care for the generic story of the COD games but I really enjoyed the first one, believe me I was just as shocked that I liked it that much. So naturally, I was eager to jump right into the story. Most people complain about the COD single player campaign because of its shortness but I say to those people to play it on Veteran. Veteran isn't impossible or even that hard...it just will delay you beating the game a good 4-5 hours. So the story for me took about 10 hours to complete which is fine for a game with so much to do afterwards.

Anyways, the story again I found was solid even though I could see a lot of people getting confused because Infinity Ward didn't want to explain too many things in depth for some reason. A summary of the first game would have been very helpful for both new and old players. Anyways, expect the usual DID THEY JUST DO THAT twists that the first Modern Warfare had. If you enjoyed the story of the first one....you'll enjoy the story of this one, if you hated it well...you'll probably still hate it. If your a newcomer, don't go into the story thinking its going to be very realistic. It's like a cheesy but GREAT summer blockbuster (Star Trek, Hangover, Iron Man, etc). Again...there are some nifty twists that will have excite people.

The graphics again are one of the best on the consoles. I have no complaints about them at all. What really helps Modern Warfare 2 is the many different environments that you'll encounter. You'll travel across the globe experiencing many different terrains....way more than the first game by a long shot. The guns look awesome, the environment is solid, and character models are great. If you liked the graphics in the original you'll like MW2's even better. There is definitely a visual difference between the two games even though its not a huge giant graphical leap.

The sound is amazing. I was so happy to hear that Infinity War actually got a great composer to compose music for the game. It definitely payed off too. I am a big fan of orchestrated music and COD delivers on that front by a longshot. It really helps to further give off a big movie feel to it...especially with the shorter campaign.

Spec Ops is the big new addition to Modern Warfare 2. Think of it as a bunch of cooperative missions somewhat like the Mile High Club mission at the end of the first game. These missions will both anger and frustrate you but they are also such a blast to complete. They are very challenging but thats a good thing. Challenging but not impossible. There are 23 or so challenges that will keep you entertained for awhile. Again, Spec Ops is a great addition to an already fantastic experience.

Finally, multiplayer is the last of the three big game modes in Modern Warfare 2. To be honest...theres not too much change here but thats not a problem in my opinion. Why fix something thats not broken? Clearly the die hard fans of the game love it and are still playing the original two years later so it clearly does not need any major fixing. The new levels are nice, the leveling makes you want to keep playing, and the new killstreaks are interesting (I still want that damn nuke)!

Overall, fans of the first Modern Warfare game will love this one too. It has the short but epic story (in my opinion) and a bunch of replay value through Spec Ops and the competitive online multiplayer. For people who have never played it, if you enjoy first person shooters this is the one to buy but if you don't the game is probably not for you.
