Because nothing is decided in who wins until after some magically sales numbers after the actual release of the devices, I'll just not buy anybody's doom and gloom comments, nor delve into the fanboy this rules or the other will die.  You are mostly dealing with companies that sell more than one thing in Sony and Microsoft, and they'll subsidize whatever and how long in order to stay.  As for what looks better, PC will always pull ahead, if not start ahead.  Deja vu, this must have happened the last couple of console cycles

They didn't talk about games because E3 is coming up, I don't know why people just can't get that??

People will buy that damn Xbox One anyway . If people are buying such a dumb game like COD and it's NR1 many years I will not be surprised by Xbox  One domination in next gen .

The one thing I will miss on the new console is the color green?  Where is it?  Isn't suppose to be synonymous for XBOX?

lol everybody here on the comment sections have already written xbox one out then again the same comment section have always written x360 off every year calling it the year of the ps3 which never came, so what are the chances the year of the ps4 will ever come

From my point of view, when those devices, that have to many functionality integrated, usually aren't good in any area. if this is targeted to games then all the functionality and all the hardware should be concentrated on how to improve gaming experience and seek a perfection.

Now as I understand it targets not only games, so I am 100% sure, that this xbox won't be as goos as expected.

you can watch TV, play movies, game is on a back burner... oh and if you want a "used game" you might as well buy it new.  Thank god the crapbox is finally dead.  Now it can go back to how it was: pre-teendo releasing mario, zelda, metroid, pokemon games, Sony dominates the consoles and the PC is still the master race.  Windows 8 sucks... do yourself one better and buy a dell.  Might as well.  It'll do more and you'll have more fun.

I like the design. I rather have something looks solid and is large enough to have proper cooling and quieter sound. Also the no power brick b/c power supply is built in. IMO this is a much better strat than designing something that has a tiny foot print and some ridiculous shape just to be edgy and hip.

No... no issue with design for me.

I don't really care about the name as long as it does what it's supposed to do what does it matter.

Xbox One?

That's original... didn't Sony re-release the first Playstation as PS One?

Tom McShea says "this video game console", Microsoft says "Home Entertainment System". Big difference. What I'm actually surprised about is the presentation being an hour long. Had they revealed this stuff at E3 I would understand the anger, but until then, it's still very much up in the air for me (PS4 as well).

I think I can speak for most of us when I say we buy consoles for gaming not for the multimedia bullshit, get it together Microsoft!

Chronolp27GS
Chronolp27GS

When I read the name it doesn't illicit the feeling that it's the next big thing.  It makes me think of a reboot or the first step of something greater.

Here are some names that I thought would be better. [I don't know if any of these names have copyrights though!]

Xbox Unity-  My favorite, but perhaps utilized by some other company

Xbox Monolith  -The system's size might make this title seem like a bad joke. Although it would be appropriate

Xbox Kinship -Too artsy maybe?

Xbox Rox-  Just kidding ;)

Any other suggestions?

I'm glad I didn't waste my time watching the hour-long "reveal" video of XBox 1 which from my impression of  this recap video was all about presentations regarding the XBox One's "multimedia" entertainment aspect and not more about the games.

Majority of people still prefer surfing the net/watching movies over the net and so forth,  with the ease of use that laptops and desktops provide.

I own both a 360 and PS3. I'll most likely buy the next gen system that is more dedicated to  real fans of video gaming. The system that has superior processing, hassle-free online gaming service, and more advanced graphics will be the one to have.

dear gamers...

you all need to build your own game consoles or gaming rigs and create your own damn games... apparently you have to do everything yourself these days...

PC hardware has ALREADY eclipsed these new consoles.

@skipper1993 I guess I'm going to leave an open invite to anyone wanting a Gaming PC, private message me, we'll design it, i'll build and have it shipped to you for 10% profit on parts :)

WayneSikes49
WayneSikes49

@skipper1993 I built an 8-core, GTX680 graphics system for about $1000 that'll  run circles around the new xbox, and considering most newer PC games support the 360 controller, I've got the best of both worlds with no used game fees, online requirements,  or other  xbox nonsense. Oh and don't forget that most xbox games are released to PC as well...

skipper1993
skipper1993 like.author.displayName 1 Like

@WayneSikes49 @skipper1993 Exactly man :) Thats why it annoyed me that they spend the last minute of the video all like "well I'm sure eventually PC specs will catch up" LOL it isn't called catching up if your already in front in the race.

QuadThumbs

@skipper1993 Right! Only difference is price for the machine.  My last 360 cost my $150 but my last PC cost me $1900. But at least it has mod support lol

@QuadThumbs @skipper1993

Read your post, then carted a wishlist for PC parts to match the XBOX One for $700.

Could have made it cheaper, but I splurged on a Sexy $99 case and I couldn't find a WEAK enough CPU to match.

XBOX One reported at 8-core 1.6 Ghz, one I picked was 6-core 3.9 Ghz.

Good luck rationalizing your argument

skipper1993
skipper1993

@Sevont I mean if you want the best of the best on PC you can end up spending stupid amounts (2k+ there abouts if you don't build your own, that?s including the best monitors and speaker systems) but I would agree that value for money wise that isn?t feasible for most people and only for people who can afford to literally buy the best of the best.

But the point is you can already buy a better PC system than the upcoming next gen consoles that is not a "super computer" type thing that I mentioned above. You can buy a far superior gaming machine for just a little more money than these next gen consoles on release. Say these consoles retail around £400 - £600, my current gaming rig cost about that when I built it a year back and it is still more powerful than the next Xbox (I can't say for PS3 I haven't looked at the reported specs).

"Could have made it cheaper, but I splurged on a Sexy $99 case" That made me lol ;)

@QuadThumbs @skipper1993Congratulations, you've just discovered that a more powerful system to play games on costs more money!!! This is a truly groundbreaking discovery. Please credit as assisting when you publish your papers to the Royal Institute.

I wish they would have announced something about MMO Support or something that can hold 100's of player on one map.  Maybe they will have One console that is solely for game room/bed room gamers and not living room family all in one social/ casual gamers!!

The features seem cool but I will probably never use them.

1. I never watch regular tv (cable/Sat)  I watch videos/shows/movies over the internet on my pc.

2. ESPN/ Sports stuff. I don't care, I hate Sports.

3. I have Kinect and hate it, now with Xbox One and PS4 (it seems) I would to have to use it.

4. Skype seems ok I you know people who Skype, I don't so I won't use it.

I just want to play Effin games..... That's why I own a GAMING CONSOLE, to play games.

On a personal note I like Playing Games By My Self!!!!!

I like the XOne, and will probably buy it someday. The things I don't like are: paying extra for used games, can't play X360 games, you have to install your games and everything not related to games.

I just want to play games on it, put in the disc and play, no other BS.
