The high price point still remains as the major problem of the second piece of downloadable content for Black Ops.

User Rating: 6.5 | Call of Duty: Black Ops - Escalation X360
We saw the First Strike add on for Call of Duty Black Ops in February. Sure, it was cool, but the price point was too high to be taken seriously. This high price point remains as the major problem, but other flaws render this map pack as a poor addition to a highly valued game.

Pros: Multiplayer maps have good level design, and have awesome, new gadgets like elevators and closing doors. Call of the Dead is some fun.
Cons: $15 is way too much money for a map pack of this caliber. Call of the Dead is an overall poor Zombies map, and the multiplayer maps look terrible, graphically. Hotel seems graphically incomplete, and all maps have a lack of good color and feel drab.

Multiplayer Maps:

Hotel: This map is the best of them all. While does feel graphically incomplete, the elevators are a ton of fun and provide frantic entertainment. Also, the whole swanky, Cuban hotel-like feel is a wonderful addition to Black Ops. However, it does have noticeable flaws. It feels incomplete. If you look over the side, you will see other buildings, but they have poor detail and look like a PlayStation 1 game.
Score: 7/10

Stockpile: While it does have some cool garage door tools, it just looks terrible and boring. The main color in the map is a darkish brown, with hints of light brown and white. It looks boring, and just doesn't feel like other Black Ops maps, which have wonderful, colorful environments. The map has some decent level design, though, which is a plus. This map is, overall, very disappointing.
Score: 5/10
Zoo: This map is probably the worst of them all. From boring visuals to a lack of variety in the map, it just is overall boring and has no good qualities. It takes place at a zoo, and most people would think of bright visuals, kiddy-like music, and animals. However, Zoo has none of those qualities, so it feels like the opposite of a Zoo.
Score: 2/10

Convoy: This map is pretty good, actually. The map has good color, and has a unique environment. However, the level design is the worst on this map. It feels like one team has the better side of the map, probably because it has much more cover, and most chokepoints can be covered with claymores. But the map looks nice, and will give your eyes some fresh color.
Score: 7/10

Zombie Map:

Call of the Dead: Now, this map has some good qualities, and some bad. For starters, being able to play with and as real life actors that have some great lines is a major plus. Who doesn't want to fight a zombified George Romeo, who has some sort of giant hammer? Cool gadgets like the new Flinger and Zip lines are cool, but then that leads me to the main problem of the new map. Getting to the cool stuff is way too hard, which will stop players from playing. Also, there is a lack of new perks, but there are new guns like the VR-11, which turns Zombies back to humans. So there are good things about this map, but there are plenty of bad things to notice.
Score: 7/10

So, overall, this map pack is decent, but what really causes it to fail is the whole fact that all of these problems are made worse by the 1200 MSP ($15) price point. The problems seem bigger than they are once you remember that you spent 15 bucks on them. So this may be a map pack you will want to avoid.
