Call of Duty: Black Ops suffers from a few flaws, but overall, its an amazing title for an FPS fan, BUY IT!
Confusing! Too many places, too many names. If you spend enough time listening and doing some research, you will understand it alot better. But in this case, people were less interested in the story, and more interested in the game itself. The game centers around NOVA-6, a biochemical that turns ordinary humans into, well, ZOMBIE-LIKE FREAKS. The three main antagonists are Kravchentko, Steiner, and Dragovich. You must travel through the Cold War era to find out about secret black ops concerning the rare biochemical.
GRAPHICS
The best in any Call of Duty game so far. The textures are very sharp and detailed. Animations and character models? Superb. When Reznov looks at you for the first time, you can see the wrinkles, the gray hair, the sweat. Truly amazing visuals. Environments are now very large and panoramic. The only visual flaws were the cartoony looking explosions. The fire looks wonderful, but the explosions look, well, a little cell-shaded and odd for such a beautiful game.
GAMEPLAY
Fun, fun, FUN GALORE! Black Ops shifted from tactical shooting in CoD 4 to extreme action. Lots of cool moments are thrown in EVERY level, and will have your heart pumping. Blowing up rocket ships in midair, rapelling through windows, riding and controlling an SR-71 Blackbird. Black Ops has it all! Throughout the campaign, you travel through Vietnam, Laos, Russia, Kowloon, and much more. But the campaign cuts itself short. I beat the game in 5 hours. Yikes! Thats much too short for my liking, but its worth every minute of gametime.
AUDIO/SOUNDTRACK
Great soundtrack. Great voiceacting. Great special effects. What else is there to say?
ONLINE
Not AS bad as Modern Warfare 2, but it still is overcome with poorly made features. The miracle perks are still here to save noobs, and the killstreaks are EXTREMELY frustrating. I died 14 times in one match, over and over again, because of overpowered helicopters and AWFUL spawning. Did I mention the spawning is so bad, that sometimes you'll spawn in strict enemy territory? Well, its true. And adding COD points wasn't a good idea. I'd rather unlock things and use them right away, instead of using virtual money to purchase them. Come on now. Black Ops does offer SOME enjoyment, however. New killstreaks like Valkyrie Rockets and RC-XDs are fun to use. It isn't as addictive as Modern Warfare or Modern Warfare 2, but its still fun every once and a while. Zombie mode is now alot more fun than Nazi Zombies. Maps are more complex and offer more interactive features. Hellhounds, Pentagon thieves, and now possibly Cosmic Silverbacks? Cool!
