Classification says it all: broken. COMPLETELY UNPLAYABLE!

User Rating: 1 | Call of Duty: Black Ops PC
Initial note for some console fanboys who know nothing about technology: this game is *based* on a 15-year-old engine, and covers technology relevant for 2005-2006. Not being able to run on a high-end 2010 PC is an obvious game flaw, NOT my PC's fault.

The game may be whatever it wants to be, but wasting 100% of my CPU time on a Core i7 940 is not doable with anything less than 8 stress primes. It seems, though, that I bought a CPU stress test for quite a lot more money that I would ever give for that. At the time of this review, well over 36 hours after release, the game is practically unplayable on a state-of-the-art machine. It stutters and stops for about 20-30 seconds for every 10 seconds that I can barely classify as "in motion". Do not read the official review, as it is copy-pasted from the X360/PS3 part of the site. It has NOTHING to do with the PC version of the game. Same thing happened with Modern Warfare 2, the reviews were practically the same, even though MW2 on the PC was by far the worst possible shooter to come out for the platform I love. This game was the last straw. I really hoped that Black Ops would be what MW2 couldn't achieve. Well, BO achieved even more, but in the negative sense. MW2 was at least smooth in terms of framerate. This game has not only MW2-esque lag, but also stuttering that I cannot reproduce for any other game of similar requirements while running 4 instances of Folding at Home and some WinRAR work at the same time.

The verdict: Never EVER buy that game for the PC unless you can see in a forum that there was a patch that fixed the issues of unplayability. I highly doubt that will happen anytime soon.
