No you are not, i felt like this too when i started play COD: BO.
don't get me wrong, i am not a pro or a player who writes guides on how to improve your game, i am just letting you know what worked for me when i was in the same position
just keep pushing through the hard/annoying part of dying a lot & eventually you will have fun.
My advice to you is, you just need to find a gun the your good with in the game. in COD: MW2 i used to use the UMP45, RPD, or the AUG HBAR. In black ops i suck with any SMG, the RPK (which is similar to the RPD), & the AUG. Instead I am now better with the FAMAS (which i sucked with in MW2) & the AK47 (which i never even used once in MW2).You should also try playing some combat training & try out some of the guns so you are able to get a idea of what you like & don't like (cuz i wasted pointless $CP on the RPK & the AUG which i currently suck with.
Another thing i would suggest is going into multiplayer off-online & running around examining the maps, learning where the snipe spots, the choke points, the shortcuts, & & all the other features of the maps are. Or you can search online for video's people posted of all the little snipe, camping, & shortcut spots are... i won't lie i did that, & there were some spots that i was constantly killed from that i never knew about.
& if you are still having problems, might i suggest maybe trying another "core" match, like CTF, Domination, Ground War, Demolition, Headquaters, Sabotage, Search & Destroy. Rather than getting annoyed from dying so much i would suggest primarily trying CTF, Domination, Ground War (primarily playing Domination), Headquarters, Demolition, or Sabotage. I would recommend these because if you having a problem about dying too much, why don't you play a match where your KDR (Kill to Death Ratio) is not the main objective, sure you could focus on you KDR in these games but you also get experience points when you capture the flag, control the territory, or plant/ defend/ disarm the bomb. Plus they are very fun.
Another thing too that i have noticed as well when playing black ops is, if you are like me & not as accurate of a shooter, but you are able to detect people on your screen really good, sometimes before they detect you (In regular team deathmatch i can see people some times before they see me, but because i'm not that accurate, they end up killing me after i unloaded a whole clip trying to hit them while only like 1-4 bullets connect), try playing "Hardcore Team Deathmatch", i know this sounds silly because you shouldn't be playing a harder deathmatch if you have a problem dying because you die easier & faster in Hardcore, but... I've notice that playing hardcore is a whole different game because 1 or 2 bullets would kill your target instead of the 6-10, excluding headshots, it takes (me) to down a enemy in regular deathmatch. Because like is said, i'm not that accurate but i am really good & noticing people before they notice me, & when it takes less damage to down someone, my ability to unload a clip on them first & hit them only once or twice before they see me ends up getting me a really good KDR. (But another down side to playing hardcore i noticed is, though i might be good in "Hardcore Team Deathmatch" i still only sometimes does amazing & sometime fail horribly in regular Team Deathmatch
By doing all of what i have said above you should be able to enjoy the game more. After i did that my combat records went from being approx. 3-7 kills & 10-20 deaths to being, approx. 15-25 kills & 4-10 deaths. In my opinion, Black Ops is nothing like Modern Warfare 2. The gameplay is different, the guns are different, & the maps are different (now people are fighting all over the maps instead of the few main choke points in the MW2 maps). Just find a way to change the way you usually played previous CODs & i think you would like the game more.

Put this in the boards, that's the place for opinions not the answers section.

Nope, just you because the game has (personally) really balanced weapons apart from 2 guns which I can't remember and the RC car
