A positive review taking into account the campaign and multiplayer features.

Black Ops 2 is the highly anticipated sequel to the original. Despite it playing second fiddle to Modern Warfare, it has a significant following and is guaranteed to see lines out the door at Gamestop on it's release date. The futuristic component sets it apart, but it follows the same formula as it's big brother. It borrows quite a bit from MW, with some minor improvements sprinkled here and there.

The game's campaign has you going back and forth between the past and present; reliving relevant memories of Alex Mason, while chasing after bad guy Menendez in the future. Villain Menendez gives Modern Warfare's Makarov a run for his money. Protagonists David, Harper and Frank grow on you quickly. While many buy Call of Duty games for the multiplayer, the campaign is definitely worthy of a play through. The cinematics aren't as interactive as that of Modern Warfare, but they play out beautifully. Throw in some futuristic weaponry, choose your own adventure decision making, and a fast paced storyline and you won't be able to put the game down until completion.

The campaign offers enough thrills on it's own, but it wouldn't be CoD without an extensive multiplayer feature. BO2 Multiplayer is an adequate substitute to MW3 that fixes some of the annoying quirks of it's predecessor. Prestige is much easier to hit, the levels capping at only 55. Second and third place in FFA grants you a victory. Sentry guns cannot be taken out by knives, only by guns and explosives. These small fixes, amongst others, make the multiplayer feature a more balanced and enjoyable experience. The map list is a bit small, but this is a problem that will obviously be fixed once the DLC map packs are released in the near future.

Both the campaign and multiplayer experience make this game a must buy. The replay value is high as you'll be replaying the campaign to see the story play out differently and for some, multiplayer will keep them busy for hundreds of hours.
