A poorly cobbled together Next Generation failure.

User Rating: 4 | Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (Day Zero Edition) PS4

# Christmas day! I unwrap myself a brand new PS4 along with a + subscription, Grand Theft Auto V, Assassins Creed IV, and Call of Duty Advanced Warfare. Seeing that my brother was eager to get a peak at Next Gen goodness, I popped in AW, installed it, and hopped into coop survival. 1st impressions wise i was fairly impressed, and graphically the game was unbelievable graphic wise.Sadly the more i spent time with it, the more i began to despise it. We were promised an innovative take on call of duty. What did we get? Jetpacks, Lag Compensation, a 5 hour campaign, and a fun but overall lame distraction of a survival game mode. Funny, because if i recall, Most of these plagued Call of Duty Ghost....

Story wise, its about the epic quest of Troy baker to destroy the evil corporation of- okay you've played this stpry before alright? That being said, there are some really neat setpieces in the game. A virtual training course, a massive gunfight on a snowy mountain, and a prison break involving a badass transformer like device. Sadly everything else (much like the story) is at best okay and at worst boring. We've seen these way too many times already. The guy you trusted is a bad guy. A scene with you in capture with the main bad guy with revealing plot points. And a climatic battle with the said villain dead. Im also extremely dissapointed that Troy Bakers talent feels utterly wasted. 75% of the time hes either muted or has a 1 word response. I honestly recall the most hes spoken was during the opening sequence, which is really sad. Kevin spacey however is really convincing, and sadly is the highlight of the entire game.

Now onto what is highly considered the "meat" of every COD. Again, ill mention that some ideas presented here are actually pretty neat. The game is extremely rewarding, especially with its supply drop system, gaining you some loot every now and then. The game itself tries to be more by adding an extra bit of verticallity to the battles. And it can be really fun with friends and even alone if your looking to kill some time. But again, the problems of yesteryear and before are STILL plaguing this game. The servers are garbage. What happened to dedicated servers? Was that mentioned to boast preorders and sells? Yea i think so. Also goes whats still a problem? LAG. COMPSENSATION. And sadly, its even WORSE then it was in Ghost, or even Black Ops 2's launch period. Literally everytime you fire at someone its like the game is flipping a coin. But you see, if you have the mighty connection, YOU will be dying even if you shot 1st. You can try all you want, but that guy with the dollar store connection will ALWAYS but you. This isnt about skill anymore. Its about who has a worser connection.

Also, while the maps arent massive clusterf&&&s anymore (like ghost), The maps are boring. Nothing, maybe except detroit, stands out. Its like they took a crayon to every blueprint, scribbled random shapes, and connected them. Its basically more like hide and seek with guns (10/10-IGN). Im sorry but this game isnt worth your money, even if your a hardcore fan. Nothing reeks of innovation. Its more so another game to make profit. Please, do yourself a favor and just keep waiting, youll thank me later.
