Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare User Review

- The Bottom Line:
- "Ambitious"
Ok, with the release of Modern Warfare 3 right on the corner, I went to the world of games most people never go: the world of games of the past.
....I'm not joking. Most people forget about great titles released 4 or 5 years ago and just keep playing games from today. When it comes to franchises, this change a little. I bet everyone remember "classics" from the 2000's, like Need for Speed Underground, Tony Hawk Underground and Call of Duty 3, right? Well, as you know, most games evolve in each year, sometimes they're completly different, sometimes the mechanics engine change, others they just add some minor new elements, and so on..... CoD changed the course the FPS game industry was taking completly with Modern Warfare, with most (if not all) elements for the perfect experience in both online mode or single-player offline mode..
And now, the review:
--STORY--
I won't tell the story in this review. First: you can't change it with your actions, Second: it makes little difference for my review. Moving on....
--GAMEPLAY --
Now here, Activision made a perfect formula for gameplay. They thought "There are players that don't play online...", so they made an expetacular single player campaign. Then, they thought "Now, most people are playing online....", so they made Multiplayer mode (both local and internet...they're genius) with a bunch of modes and maps. Then they thought "We'll have to make the players play this for a long time", so they put a bunch of medals to get accordingly to how you kill an enemy, how far your kill streak went, and also released many DLCs with new maps, weapons, characters, customizables and so on.
--PROS AND CONS --
CoD: Modern Warfare is that kind of game that favours everyone (and even more those who play online), no matter how you like to play. If you read closely to my review, I mentioned the word "perfect" some times but my review isn't exactly 10 score....why's that?
Because this game have one little, tiny whiny flaw:
ACTIVISION WANTS YOUR MONEY!
Activision's expert of this....of course, you can play for free as much as you want, but if you want to play on another map, or want to test a new weapon, you'll have to pay for it...and the prices aren't so nice, comparing to what you'll get from it.
I know people will criticize about being unfair, that no game offers free and cool stuff unless you pay up for something...and the worst thing is that I actually agree with this....but for the exact same game engine be repeated for 4 years now....it's just sad...
The game itself isn't bad, except for the short single player action, but just the fact that all CoD games that came after this one uses the same mechanics, and instead of every year having to pay a full-priced game just for some new maps, weapons and a new single player campaign isn't worth the price...think about it, if everything the newer games had could just be downloaded to your console(or pc) HD, Activision and Infinity Ward both would had less work to do and could spend more time with other games....
Overall, a game worth buying, but nevertheless, post-launch updates and more support/downloads for it could have made it much better.

Took some time to make another Hellsing playercard emblem for the PC version of Call of Duty Black Ops, in this tutorial I show you how you can create AlucarD, as always you must unlock all 12 layers first and buy all the neccessary stencils first.Posted Feb 20, 2011
