Decent Call of Duty game, but fails to live up to the brilliance of the first 2 CoD's and Treyarch's CoD3.

Well, I am not exactly sure what to say. It is a good PS2 game that is fun to play at first. Most of the missions are quite good fun and the first few looked totally promising, but after the plane mission, I was not quite as excited as when I started off. The rest just kept feeling like run-and-kill and the environments were boring until the last 2 missions.

Of course, Treyarch has done a fairly good job of making this a good PS2 game. It is a huge improvement over the boring CoD FH, but still feels like something is missing. The first few missions along with the plane mission are absolute fun and a fantastic intro, but D-Day does not feel as good as it should be along with the Italian missions and after normandy except for the final 2 missions. I felt that they were simply there to boost the length of the game because those levels felt a little boring and just kept progressing from one war-torn building to the next and something like that. It is a long game, but mainly because the levels themselves are long. There are only 14, and I consider Treyarch to be quite good at mission design in FPS's, but they probably did not spend too much effort on some missions.

Gameplay is OK. It is intense and there are always particular objectives which keep changing so you really feel like something different will happen and you don't keep running and shooting. Sadly that only applies to the missions I liked. The battles do feel like an actual battlefield, but some stuff were made far too predictable. Every time an allied tank appears, it is blown to pieces after a few seconds. I then just feel that you just know what is going to happen and there are no more surprises. The intensity lasts a while, but things soon get too predictable.

This game does not feature any particular story, but I have to point out that Treyarch do know how to create memorable, unique characters that make you care for them even though it is just a video game. It has a good soundtrack like just like the video games I play always do. Graphics are not so bad. Let me be honest with you, I would rate this game higher, but because this game gets more than an eight by other users I have to highly disagree. It is worth playing, but I feel that Call of Duty 3 will be far more enjoyed.
