GREAT GAME. Play it.

I can’t recommend this game enough. It’s got a fantastic wonky story, really immersive gameplay, and it’s scary. Even if you’ve never heard of Lovecraft you’ll have fun playing this game (and be introduced to the mythos in a decent way, the game’s creators have definitely read up on their Lovecraft), and if you’re a fan you’ll be in Cthulhu heaven.

It's part adventure game, part FPS, and designed to suck you into the story world in the most immersive way possible. There’s no HUD and the sound is top notch (it’s creepy as hell when it wants to be). If you have a good surround system you’ll hear lots of stuff happening behind you and around you, from drunkards singing old Innsmouth folk tunes in the alley to growling creatures locked up in the attic, getting louder and louder as you slowly creep up the stairs.

The graphics are great, though not quite on par with something like Doom 3 or Riddick. And the game is dark in places, so the ideal way to play this one is with the shades drawn, late at night, with the surround sound cranked.

Alright, that’s it. This is the first user review I’ve written, and I decided to write it for this game because I want it to sell well so I can play a kick ass sequel on a next gen system. I'll be playing through this one again too, it's just a damn good game.

Many, many thumbs up.
