some steps forward, but too many steps back.

most people reading this are probably already cabela renters (played previous titles) This one has probably the best graphics in the series which isn't saying a whole lot, but it's worth mentioning. The game is fun for a few hours but i'm going to focus on what's missing.

- no more bullet drop and no wind to speak of
-rarely get an opportunity for a long distance kill
-some shots that would kill in reality only wound and vise versa
-Variety of animals per-board is usually only the one you are tyring to hunt plus one other and birds. (past games have included up to six diff. in one board sometimes w/ multiple species to hunt)
-bird and herd hunting missions last on average 20 seconds and aren't very fun
-tracking now consists of walking into a swarm of red bugs (no joke) very stupid and uninteresting (plus can't see tracks on ground unlike previous titles) -no more scent cover, stands, decoys, calls, gps, etc... only weapons (which don't seem to vary as much as they should) -animal disappears after shot, meaning you don't claim trophies
-animals are in the exact same location each time you retry, so there is no randomness or variation.
-Biggest animals are always the same (darkest and biggest) - and worse...my biggest will not vary from yours - no randomness; in previous titles i could shoot a 1654 lbs. animal but you could have found a 1661lbs of same speicies which is cool and random...not here.
-animals run strange (routes) there are too many predators hunting you which is too arcadey
- much too short time limit on all missions (approx 5-10 min max) with annoying voice over saying 'sands of time wait for no one, even hunters'
- all water is a few inches deep (can't drown or go waist deep) - lessens strategy
-draw distance is weak for a 360 game
there are certainly other i can't think of now

I don't miss the rifle sighting or stamina bar...there should be a customization menu though for people to tweak the game how they want. I still contend that the original cabella and first big game hunting were the best in series...much better than this. after a few hours you realize this is mindless and repetative and short...but it's all we have for now in the hunting simulation genre. 5.5/10
