"Amazing"
Bulletstorm is a great game.

At first you might think that it's just another brainless shooter with awesome environments and an excuse of a story behind it; in both cases, it is not.

Not a brainless shooter because in the heat of the battle you positively need to think, and think fast, what would be the best way, given the varied combat options (between your arsenal, where every weapon has two fire modes, a tool called "leash" that also gives you two ways of handling the enemies and, of course, as the game's cover shows, your powerful boot), to remain alive. The possible combinations are countless, so the combat never ever gets old and the feeling of accomplishment when managing to get out of trouble against all odds is vastly rewarding.

And the story, although nothing extraordinary, grows on you and perfectly fits the nothing less than amazing cyberpunk scenarios that from start to finish compels you to marvel at every detail.

The whole package is so extremely well done, with a gameplay so fluid and smooth, every place and detail so carefully thought out that the game world came to life in a way that several times during this journey I caught myself wishing for a more complex game like Bioshock: simply because I'd prefer to take my time exploring, doing things at a slower pace.

But a game must be examined as it is, and not through a distinct angle: Bulletstorm's purpose always was, from the very beginning, frantic battles and frenetic shooting. And it does that in a so original way that you just can't get enough of it – in meantime, dappled with a hint of brilliance in a story that reveals itself more and more intriguing and compelling as you delve into its plot (a plot that, nonetheless, could've been better handled), all surrounded by spectacular sceneries. Memorable characters, equally memorable quotes. Over-the-top in nearly every aspect.

The checkpoint system is also very well implemented: very forgiving, which adds to the fun as the player never experiences frustration when he dies; you never have to retrace your steps a long way.

All in all, a game is about entertainment and fun. And that, Bulletstorm delivers. In spades. The campaign is fairly short, but the fun is so intense that you nevertheless will feel very satisfied in the end.

Bear in mind that it probably has no replay value other than the achievements you missed: which in no way detracts from the fun you can, and positively will have in your first experience here if you like first-person shooters.

Bulletstorm developers studio has a suitable name: "People Can Fly", a subsidiary of "Epic Games". They most definitely flew high in this epic title.

Two thumbs up, way up.
