Be prepared to be sucked into the Buffy Universe. I picked up this game after reading some positive reviews, but not really expecting too much. I wasn't really into fighting games, and I was clueless to the Buffy World, so I didn't know what to expect. Wow, was I completely sucked into all things Buffy by this wonderful and fun game!!! Now thanks to this game, I got the Buffy-Bug, and after going out and buying all 3 currently available seasons of Buffy on DVD, and even the old Buffy movie, I can say this game has managed to capture the Buffy Spirit perfectly. The character animations, the graphics, the sound effects, the voice-overs, and even the story line just fit together so perfectly, making you try just one more level before giving up for the night. You get completely caught up in this fun gameplay atmosphere, you just have to see what happens next. The game is mostly fighting, and I admit to playing it on Easy because for me the Normal mode got just too hard and frustrating about half-way thru. It plays out on some great and very atmospheric and memorable locations. Bonus for fans, in between missions you get to explore the library and interact (somewhat) with the Scooby Gang in the library. The game interface is all good once you get the hang of it; only sometimes a little difficult to change your weapon in the heat of the battle, but you'll get over it. For me, it really felt like you were taking part in a Buffy episode, somewhere in the middle of the 3rd season. But all is not good, there is no save anywhere feature. When you die it's back to the start of the level again to redo what you just did, again again and again in some cases as you try to figure out what you should be doing. This would not be such a big problem (especially on Easy like I played) but unfortunately the designers decided in the last few levels to turn the game from action/fighting/adventure (GREAT!) into a platformer/jumping (NOT GREAT!) make one wrong move and fall to your death and restart the level type game that I HATE!!! For me, this kind of instant death is just frustration, and not fun or challanging. (and they did throw in some cheap instant deaths at the end of the level - WHY!?!?! ARGH!!!!) But on the whole, I love the game and had enough fun with it that it is one of the few games I played more than once. Go Buffy, Go Buffy!!!! (PS: I also got into fighting games thanks to Buffy)
