So unappreciated... but it's still no Sonic.

Bubsy the Bobcat... hearing that name will make some people vomit. But not me. I played Bubsy, and was quite skeptical at first... but after going into the game deeper, I found it was quite a decent game. Nowhere near famous, and poor Bubsy had some extreme competition, he was just shut out... not to mention his future games were a plop! But a game that offers difficulty but still pretty fun... that's Bubsy in a nutshell!

First off, you start with 9 lives... obvious joke. Or is it? Truth of it is, you'll need all the lives you're going to get. The game is very difficult for one reason... one hit point! Of course, there have been other games like this too (Pac-Man anybody?), so there's no point in complaining about the life system without insulting other games. But still, there's a LOT that can kill you! It's like you're in the middle of a battle that's just opened fire! The first line Bubsy says: "What can possibly go wrong?" The answer: almost everything!

The game does have a little cliche humor as well, like the above quote (Bubsy's catchphrase). It is cute, but maybe some better lines could've been added in later levels (though the intro to the last level is QUITE funny).

The game's strength... if you can bear to stand the game... if replayability. Think about it like this... Bubsy can run... FAST!!! But the overall goal would be to score lots of points! Are you going to go treasure hunting for yarn balls? Or would you rather blast through the stage at full speed and beat it in the shortest time possible. The options are very open, and lets you play the way you'd like to... whether it be hunting or just being crazy and taking it full-speed!

The game has downfalls, but it's still quite good. The difference in gameplay and the decent graphics can make the game seem appealing. But the harsh difficulty is a turn-off for most people. A shame they can't stand a good challenge like I can. Because it's very hard to get through the game unharmed... or without even getting a Game Over! But pick it up if you can. The game has its problems, but still is a decent rival of Sonic and Mario... he's just not popular in the slightest!
