One of the better platformers for the Super Nintendo
Gameplay: Do you like Mario? Then this is for you!! You play as Bubsy the Bobcat. He can glide and he can jump real high. Pretty good!! Sadly, if you get hit once, you die. It makes the game a lot more challenging, which is a good thing. It is also kinda neat how they give you 9 lives, like a cat!! Instead of collecting coins as you do in the Mario games, you collect yarn balls. They can earn you extra lives, and score you whopping point values. Be sure to pick up "continues". If you get Game-Over, you can continue. They worlds are interesting as they are in different locations from the typical platformer. This is one of the first platformers that featured the "cliche" riding on the train levels. This game is really hard though, but the payoff ( in my opinion ) is huge. Just to experience this, and get the nostalgic feel from the 90's.
Graphics: Lets just say, they are fabulous!! They graphics in Bubsy are well-polished and nice to look at. The sprites look good and animated. Oddly enough, the levels are great too!! The designs are remarkable, and fun to play through.
Sound: Well... sounds good to me!! Some of the songs will get stuck in your head for weeks, even years!! Bubsy sounds pretty cool. I'm surprised something like Sonic the Hedgehog turned on people instead of a badass Bobcat. Bubsy deserved to be famous. Anyway, the SFX are great too!! Misc. beeps and rattles make this more enjoyable than the usual platformer ( with exception of Mario ).
Replay: You can play this for days!! A pretty massive adventure, but like most platformers, gets kinda boring. Still, try and beating this thing without dying once!! Now thats challenging!!
Buy. Rent, or Leave: Well, buy if you see it. I urge you to play this game!! I hope to god this game is downloadable on the VC. That would make my day. Try it no matter what. Since you can't rent, and there is no point to leaving it, get it... If its not downloadable, I will probably cry myself to sleep. Conclusion: This game is underated and should at least be played by everyone. If Bubsy stayed 2D and never attempted to move to 3D, he could have been one of the biggest stars in VG history!! Great game!!
