Brothers In Arms on the go

User Rating: 8.8 | Brothers in Arms: D-Day PSP
WWII games are a dime a dozen nowadays, however, the Brothers In Arms series of games provided a much needed breath of fresh air since the release of Road to Hill 30 in 2005. The series isn't a run and gun style like the Medal of Honor series, nor is it fighting among nameless masses like Call of Duty. This is a thinking man's tactical first person shooter. You need to think on your feet and move your men across the maps to flush out the enemy. Unlike Call of Duty, you know the guys you fight with, and you may actually feel bad about losing them in the middle of a level (COD soldiers around you are nameless obstacles instead of tools to be used).

Brothers In Arms: D-day is a combination of levels from Road to Hill 30 and Earned In Blood. People who enjoyed the first two games will enjoy D-day, but if you are looking for a completely new game, THIS IS NOT IT. It is a fun and portable compilation of the first two games slightly scaled down for the PSP ( graphics have been simplified in some areas and levels are very slightly different). Graphics are absolutely amazing for the PSP and the sound is even better. Bullets sound just as real in this game as they do at the firing range. One of my personal gripes is the control set up. I would have preferred a control scheme akin to syphon filter ( x, square, triangle, circle for pan up, down, etc.) but the advanced scheme is actually fairly comfortable once you get used to it (square and circle function as turn and the thumbstick forward, backward, and strafe). While D-day is not a new game, it does provide you with your BIA fix while on the go.
