A truly emotional experience that compares like none other! From graphics, to sound, to story, to controls...emotional!

User Rating: 10 | Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons PS3
This is one of the most emotionally compelling gaming I have ever played! The game itself is only about 3 hours long, but it was a specific story that the developers set you to tell...and not really a happy one at that. At the beginning, despite the desperate circumstances that set the brothers on their quest, it is sooo incredibly "warm" feeling in every aspect imaginable. Soon though, it turns in quite a different direction, and there are such intensely sad and disturbing moments as the brothers continue on. The narrative is astounding, which says a lot since their is no dialog or text at any point. All of the voices are done in a Sims like fashion, but the context of each interaction and each scene makes the message unmistakeable.

The control scheme is unique to say the least. Each brother is controlled independently with the two analog sticks. It takes some getting used to for sure, but there was a reason the developers did this. A large part of the emotionality of the game is in the controls. That sounds strange and indeed it's hard to explain, but at certain points during the game the actual use of the controls (i.e. what my thumbs were doing, and not what was on screen), were the source of inspiration or immense sadness. If you were to watch a video of this game instead playing it, you'd be missing out on literally half of the experience.

In addition to this, the environments and graphics are hands down in the top three (if not THE top), most beautiful in any game I have ever played. The ART of this game is amazing!

For a downloadable game, it is an incredible experience that you should not pass up if you care about story, narrative, and emotion.
