I'd completely forgotten about it but blade runner was superb.
I can't believe you didn't mentioned the great and mythological NEVERHOOD
I can't help but feel that the discussion was a bit of waste of time, no one seemed to be particularly interested in the future of the genre. It's pretty apparent to me that considering the interest in adventure-style games, getting some good writers and animators could revive point and click on the DS, Wii and yes, let's not forget the humble PC.

this is awesome news hopefully this one sells well and they make a directors cut of 2 as well .
In fact Revolution could give the genre a full renaissance with the most up to date and amazing version of the 2d point-and-click adventure game. Hopefully they'll finally do this for Broken Sword 5 & the next Beneath a Steel Sky!
Broken Sword 5 needs to be back in 2d!
I love this game!!!
No, you missed my point. For once I wasn't dissing the publishers nor the industry, I was actually referring to the shallowness of this particular episode of Start/Select. Here you have four obviously knowledgable individuals, who seem to be very excited about their favourite adventure games moving to smaller platforms, and doing very little else other than reminiscing about their favourite games (whose charm worked brilliantly on larger platforms, otherwise they wouldn't be talking with such passion). Of course, they're free to think or say anything they want, but I just wasted 15 minutes of my life listening to what was basically just procrastination about the "good old days". There was nothing in this episode that shed any light on anything, or couldn't have been summed up in a paragraph or two. So the bottom line is, I could've spent those 15 minutes having a much more in-depth conversation on the same issue, with three complete strangers on this site. On top of that, can people who enjoyed those PC classics so much not have anything to say about what happened to PC adventure games? Now THAT would be an interesting discussion. I could sit two hours to watch that.
HeadrockBeats, if your point is about PC getting the shaft, there are always (less well-known) point-and-click adventure games being made for the PC (usually by European developers). This episode they're talking about a remake of an old PC game, for a different system (Wii, DS). They're not talking about a new Broken Sword game, so nothing about a PC version or whatever. Obviously, more money can be made for the DS crowd, and it relies on lesser graphics. We're getting a "mega man 9" here with this new Broken Sword game, but there can be a PC version if Revolution wants that and if they were Capcom :P It just develops on the publishers and developers...
i enjoyed it as when old games are mentioned, i'm normally get lost and fustrated. So its nice to see something i remember.
Nice show, yes, but you missed a couple of points. First, you never mentioned Gabriel Knight :( .Second, actually there is a digital delivery system specializing in older PC games, adventures or not. It's Good Ol' Games at www.gog.com (though i'd like to see them on Steam as much as you do)
I can't wait for Broken Sword to come out for the DS! :D It will be strange to not be playing it on the PC but I still think it sounds like a fantastic idea.
You know what really bugs me about this episode? You have four guys sitting around a table, talking about the greatest PC adventures they got to play, and discussing how much they'd love to see the adventure game genre come back to the spotlight. But for some reason, they all work with the basic assumption that the only suitable format for this would be on portable devices? What happened to all the PCs they were just talking about? Is the PC market so laughable that it doesn't even deserve any more mention when discussing a possible renaissance for adventure games? Just because a PC can run Call of Duty 4, does that mean it should not be a target platform for less GFX-intensive productions? Once I realized this, the whole discussion in this episode seemed like, well, I won't use profanity, so I'll say "procrastination", rather than "progress". In other words, a waste of my time.
Wow, thanks for all the positive comments on this one guys -- glad you liked it!
wow... the game involving these skeletons looks great fun
really enjoyable episode, love the fact that point and click is getting some of the lime light, and that broken sword is leading the episode! im a happy man indeed,
totally agree with SuperMooseman
@gaffyh I get the Russell brand comment a lot cos of the hair, but I've just had a load of it lopped off so hopefully I should look a little less like the prank calling miscreant ;-)
Best episode of Start Select EVER. Point and click is my favourite genre, so it was really cool to see a whole episode dedicated to it.
a pirate i was meant to be!!! damn broken sword and monkey island are still 2 this day my fav game series of all time
I was one of those fans begging for Broken Sword to come to the Wii and DS. If there's anything I love about Revolution, it's that they listen to their fans.
Awww....Guy where was the weird intro comment?...like..."join us on this ride and buckle up as we rocket you to the world of broken sword, and then land back safely to have some tea and diigestive biscuits....".... err...or something like that. And is it just me...or does Mark look like Russell Brand but with combed hair? Great show, and i don't even like broken sword, well done for still keeping it interesting.
I miss Monkey Island :(
I love this show!
Finally
Nice show!
