Get ready to hit the Ark with guns blazing in this Starting Block featuring Brink.
Their heads/faces look too weird for me to play.
@mossongreens
But 'who watches the watchmen.' Its the consumers or users of this site that keep it going to some degree...so I am qualified to review they're review because it only takes an opinion to be a critic.
Of course, you can give feedback - but don't expect them to do what you would want them to do. You may be their customer but you are not their boss - and there will be those other customers who will remind you of that.
"Who watches the watchmen" indeed - you may not realize this, but this statement goes both ways, and all around.
Except for the whole balls thing(WHICH I APOLOGIZED FOR) ahem...lets agree to disagree.
Thank you very much for your understanding then, wherever the extent that is.
@Gelugon_baat I also apologized for my harsh language so bringing it up is a mute point. Honestly what qualifies you? Don't you think its a little delusional that you got this idea to police gamespot? (I'm not saying you are delusional, and if you take it that way well we're all a little delusional) bottom line they have their own moderators. I would say the hardest part about their job is dealing with the occasional knucklehead like me. Obviously we didn't get the same idea of what the reality check was about. I'm col with that. So just respect that my opinion is different then yours. Nothing I said was heated or was meant to be as such. Except for the whole balls thing(WHICH I APOLOGIZED FOR) ahem...lets agree to disagree. And maybe in the future we can argue about something in another post. If you have a response just send it to my box.
@Gelugon_baat Your right technically they are just telling them how they did their job and how they could have done better...which isn't much different then what my commentary is. and you can't say its not directed toward the company who makes the game because it has a direct impact on sales. And when your not taking enough time to review a game that you should its like watching half of a movie and writing a review. Its incomplete. So if they are informing me about the game they aren't doing their complete job. I can forgive one skip because 95% of the time I feel like gs is on the mark or close enough. And you can tell how close they are compared to other game website ratings. And obviously you got it in your head to police this website. But 'who watches the watchmen.' Its the consumers or users of this site that keep it going to some degree...so I am qualified to review they're review because it only takes an opinion to be a critic
@mossongreens
So if I follow your logic someone who doesn't do something or has never done something for a living or as a job doesn't have the right to tell someone else how to do theirs.and that's where your argument falls apart because gamespot reviews games, they don't make games they have never had nor know how to.
Were their reviews directed at the game-makers? No, but they were directed at consumers instead, as in informing them what to expect of the game. The reviews are not intended to tell the game-makers how to do their jobs.
You can say that my argument is falling apart, but I know the technical goal of a review - and that is not to tell game-makers how to do their jobs.
@mossongreens
Im not telling them how to do their job.

...don't complain to me about how hard your job is...gamespot doesn't even have the balls to stick by what they said...the have to justify it.

Based on the the trem of service I am within the execution of my rights as a member to voice my opinion.
Sure, you can voice your opinion - but don't tell anyone else how to do their jobs if you are not qualified to.
You can call me stubborn all you like, but you made that first statement that compared your construction job with their review job and said their job - which you do not do - shouldn't be as hard as they say.
You may not realize it, but your statement has become more than just a feedback opinion - and isn't exactly suggesting humility, which you have mentioned.
I simply wish that gamespot stick to the guidelines they set out use to review games; and to stick by it so they maintain their own dignity.
And they are still sticking to their policies, as shown by the absence of any change in Brink's review and scoring. Justin Calvert only wrote that Reality Check article to defend GameSpot's policies. Why shouldn't they defend themselves?
@Gelugon_baat ur whole argument is based on the fact that Im trying to tell gs how to do their job. Im not telling them how to do their job. The fact that you keep bringing it up shows that your not understanding what Im saying.Whether thats my fault for not being clear enough or yours for just being stubborn I don't know, 2nd you say that there is no devolution of power to me the consumer to develope an opinion about the service that gs provides to the visitors of their site. Based on the the trem of service I am within the execution of my rights as a member to voice my opinion.now what I said was harsh and I apologize for that. I simply wish that gamespot stick to the guidelines they set out use to review games; and to stick by it so they maintain their own dignity. last according to you,putting gamespots dignity in question by being unqualified to tell them how to do their job (which I'm not doing). So if I follow your logic someone who doesn't do something or has never done something for a living or as a job doesn't have the right to tell someone else how to do theirs.and that's where your argument falls apart because gamespot reviews games, they don't make games they have never had nor know how to. So according to you someone should have had the job to be able to criticize someone else. meant no ill will to gamespots 'dignity,' dignity the root of which is humility.
ooo
this didn't help to much lol
@mossongreens
...the whole reason there is a comment section is so that people can post their opinions...which is all I'm doing...
And I am posting mine - and that is you don't have the right to tell them how to do their jobs.
You can use the freedoms of speech and expression as a shield all you like, but until you learn the hard way that all human rights lead to the protection of the most important thing to humans, which is dignity (and the example of dignity being damaged here is you telling others how to do their job when you are not qualified), there are those who will see you as abusing your rights to said freedoms.
And this is not the USA. This is the Internet - specifically an online corporate domain with Terms of Use that maintain that you would not be able to get away with every kind of statement.
@Gelugon_baat k I thought this was america I have the right to say what I want...but your right I can't force them...and besides all of that. You don't even understand what I'm trying to say. I don't have to " learn the hard way "...because I don't think they should have apologized. I don't believe in apologies. They're just words...and actions speak louder than words...especially words in pink text. (lol what's with that anyway) I think your taking this conversation way...WAY(ifi wanted to waste time ide put that in pink) way to serious. besides I come to this site because most of the time they're harsh and truthful...i just don't want that tarnished with apologies for it. I make up my own mins and I don't care when other people disagree with me. This site and on a larger scale this world would be boring if everyone agreed all the time.i think you take it to heart that...you just want to try and disagree with me because I posted a comment against gamespot...the whole reason there is a comment section is so that people can post their opinions...which is all I'm doing...
If they patch this game up it will be amazing, as it stands, it's definitely *not* amazing.
@mossongreens
...(and they even state they could do a better job at the end of the article; going on to say they could make some changes. And I have no doubt they will make changes)...then I can tell them how to do they're job.
That's a promise to you as a consumer - NOT the devolution of power to you. You still do not have the right to tell them how to do their jobs.
Which was the point of my rant in the first place I'm not mad they have it a six I'm mad cause they defended it...and by doing so they made it sound like maybe they can't be trusted on their reviews because alot of time they feel they didn't take enough time...then how can we trust this site
Then you are going to learn the hard way that not everyone will say sorry all the time if they believe that they had done nothing wrong. If you don't trust this site, then please, go to some other one. Hopefully they will tell you what you like to hear, and keep telling you that.
Give me a break people tell me how to do my job all the time.
Are these people your actual bosses? Bosses who have experience at doing your job and are better at that than you are before they were promoted to supervisory roles?
@Gelugon_baat Gamespot provides a service and since I'm the consumer and I think they could do a better job...(and they even state they could do a better job at the end of the article; going on to say they could make some changes. And I have no doubt they will make changes)...then I can tell them how to do they're job. Give me a break people tell me how to do my job all the time. I can't believe your actually defending gamespot they're critics if they can't take criticism then they shouldn't do it for a living. Which was the point of my rant in the first place I'm not mad they have it a six I'm mad cause they defended it...and by doing so they made it sound like maybe they can't be trusted on their reviews because alot of time they feel they didn't take enough time...then how can we trust this site
@mossongreens
Read the the reality check.
Well, pardon me for not knowing which version that he was referring to. He had been planting complaints on the comment threads of any video, including the ones for PC versions.
That said, YOU don't know which version he was referring to either, and the Reality Check article did not say whether they had played the PC version of the game earlier or not; they only said they got the review copy a day before the release of the PC review. In fact, GameSpot reviewers may obtain the game themselves earlier, as was the case for Crysis 2.
...but gamespot gave it a six because they were upset they didn't get the game early and it wasn't what they wanted it to be...
And that's exactly it. It isn't what they wanted it to be. They are not as forgiving as you are.
I work in construction...don't complain to me about how hard your job is...gamespot doesn't even have the balls to stick by what they said...the have to justify it.
Do you review games for a living? Are you sure that it isn't any harder than a construction job, which has little if not nothing in common with a reviewing job?
They won't tell you how to do your job, e.g. "justify it", so DON'T tell them how to do theirs.
@ OneShot45 your statement makes no sense son.
@ Crypt1978 yeah, i gave you a thumbs down for your ignorant statement.
@ Vonage yeah, i gave you thumbs down for your ignorant statement.

@Gelugon_baat Read the the reality check. (EDIT: GAMESPOT GOT THE PC VERSION RELEASE DAY AND REVIEWED IT AND IN A ABOUT A DAY AFTER THEY RELEASED THEY'RE REVIEW)The whole reality check article was some sad excuse at an apology...and then whining about how hard it is to review games because they have to wait, like the rest of us for the actual release day to get the game. Wahwah you review games for a living get a real job. I work in construction...don't complain to me about how hard your job is...gamespot doesn't even have the balls to stick by what they said...the have to justify it. brink was a 7.5 at best...but gamespot gave it a six because they were upset they didn't get the game early and it wasn't what they wanted it to be...
They picked PC for this video, because the console versions suck. Probably all Brink videos will be on PC, if an update isn't released to fix the graphics/lag.
1 up for u xbox guys imma ps3 user and brink sucked with out online worst sh@t ever@!! but will be great online if there ever is a psn again might have to switch sides in tha console war
@inaka_rob That's not what it said.
@inaka_rob Starting Block is decided by the video team, and is independent of what the reviews, guides, or any other section of GameSpot thinks about the game. Guides are based on traffic/interest/hype and are never coordinated with the reviews department. A high selling game that isn't very good is more likely to get a guide (Example: Final Fantasy 14) than something that is niche, yet fantastic (Such as Tactics Ogre).
@inaka_rob FYI most faqs are written by ppl who have access to the beta or the Japanese version before the U.S.
why are they making negative comments for the video names?
@inaka_rob
you spent what? 5 hours online? I mean. you have it plain as day in Reality Check. you reviewed the game in ONE DAY!
I suggest that you read the article again. It was not mentioned in any way that the game was reviewed in just one day. Which review are you referring to anyway?
@itsgamingtime I was wandering the EXACT same thing. I guess I can expect a guide for Thor soon. or are guides 100% arbitarty as to which game they make them for??? I think its kinda strange that they admit in the latest "reality" check they JUST got the game (the day before launch) and only had 1 day to review it... and now they have a guide for it just like THAT. even though they think the game is crap. converstation at gamespot HQ: "Hey guys we finally got Brink. OH MY GOD this game is TERRIBLE. HURRY bust your ### we have to get the guide out for this game ASAP!" Hey gamespot why dont you review the game for a proper amount of time. and not review the bad servers the company uses which give SOME users a laggy expiernce. I mean... games take a while to mature and evolve. you admited you reviewed this game after 1 day. Do you think a mutliplayer gamer like THIS will take a little bit to grow? I know that I like games like Battlie Field after I have put 50 into to the multiplayer so I can see how the game devoples and really get to know it. you spent what? 5 hours online? I mean. you have it plain as day in Reality Check. you reviewed the game in ONE DAY!
kinda like the egyptian revolution [watch the news]
Great game...on the PC! Wish there were more maps....maybe later!
Because they secretly love this game.
why are they giving tips for a game that they seemed to hate?
