Slowdown on PSN Version?

Has anyone played the PSN version of this on PS3? I've heard of some people getting slowdown when playing this on PS2. Is that how the game's always been, or is it because they weren't playing on a PS1?

I'm wondering if the PSN/PS3 version runs better than on the PS2.
