Breath of Death VII: The Beginning isn't just a parody of retro RPGs of the 80s and 90s. In some ways, it even improves on the old turn-based formula. The addition of an enemy counter on the top of the screen that shows how many random encounters are left in a certain area is pure genius and should become standard for newer RPG games. Don't worry grinders, when an area becomes empty, you can still trigger battles from the menu whenever you want. Also, the combo system is a nice little touch that makes Breath of Death feels different.
The humour factor is very strong in this game, you'll find yourself laughing on multiple occasions during your play-through. The game quotes famous lines from old-school titles like Castlevania and Zelda ;)
Breath of Death also features a very cool intro cutscene and one of the most memorable soundtrack of any 8-bit or 16-bit game!....ever!!
The game will last you about 6-8 hours depending on your play style. At 80 msp, this is a bargain! If you don't already have it then, go buy it!!!
