I really loved Borderlands. But after seeing Rage, there is a part of me that wishes they had stuck with the original look.

This is one game worth buying or spending time downloading.

Wow, thats a dramatic style change. To be honest I quite like both, but it was definitly wise going for the cell-shaded style- the fallout3 comparison's would have been endless

I really liked this game, and the DLC. I also think, atheistically, that it's a masterpiece. I often return to XIII because of the cell shading and I expect, that if good DLC keeps coming, I will do the same with this title.

@topsemag55 - Just to keep our discussion public I misread your first post and didn't realise wyou were talking about RPS.

Well you might see an RPS soon with the proposed new CODs. I for one would be very interested to see how that turns out. There's no reason that the same game structure couldn't be applied to a FPS game. The COD MMO, if it eventuates, has the right backing to deliver that IMO. As long as they release it early enough that Activision haven't killed the COD name like they do with so many other titles

@Chickan_117 Borderlands is a RPS. It is not a RPG. You cannot compare RPGs to Borderlands, because it is not a full-on RPG.

Trying to compare a RPS with a RPG is like comparing an Intel 8088 CPU with an Intel Core i5.

If you must compare Borderlands, you have to put it up against other FPS shooters like Bioshock 2.

Go and watch "Borderlands Gameplay Trailer" at :40 - :43, and you'll see the developer put on the screen that it is not a RPG but a RPS. Completely different animal, a hybrid: not to be compared with real RPGs.

@topsemag55 - Never had an RPG shooter? What about Mass Effect, Fallout 3 or any of the others?

@Chickan_117 I look at Borderlands as a new experiment: up until now there never had been a role-playing shooter. Gearbox still hasn't perfected it, as it's more FPS and not enough RPG added in: it's like forgetting to put salt and pepper on your food. Maybe in Borderlands 2 we can have a NPC companion in single-player mode.

@topsemag55 - This is the original "look" of Borderlands. You won't see this scene in game coz it was scrapped. Shame really as it does look very good.

Newer art style was definitely a very wise move tho

So far, this looks like a rip-off of Fallout 3, but I guess it's good enough.
