Nice game with great gunplay, but falls short in some areas.

I just want to say that I enjoyed playing this game. It was one of my rare full-price purchases. The gameplay itself is really what drawn me to this game, however, there are some issues within the game itself.

By far my favorite part of the game was how it played. The technical aspects of the gameplay seem to be on par (or better) than the majority of shooters on the market. I found it interesting that the game had realistic bullet times. For instance, if you shot your rifle at a distant target it would take some time for the slug to impact. This gave a game that does not use realism as a drawing point a sense of the real world. I also liked the fact that there were so many different guns. Yes, the gun types were limited to shooter standards (Pistol, SMG, AR, etc.), but literally every gun was somewhat different. These are just some of the portions that made this game shine.

With all of the positives within the game there were some negatives. First off, I found the story to be somewhat lackluster, which seemed to be very disjointed and impersonal. I mean would it have killed them to have each character have an individual story line to follow? I liked the looting portions of the game, but by the end of the second playthrough it seemed like every enemy defeated dropped some type of weapon, and sort of desensitized me to that excitement of finding another piece of my arsenal. These negatives were few and far between however.

Overall, this was a very fun game with solid mechanics. The story is lacking, and I felt that the world of Pandora would have more to offer. The game is just plain enjoyable and that makes up for the negative aspects.
