why did she not want Lilith to come along to get the key and stop the catalyst (angel) is it in case things go bad and Jack can use Lilith as a replacement. if so...why is it ok for Maya to go?

if you got to that part you would know that although lil helped us, she also made it much worse by giving jack a second siren to fuel the key with. basically, we did all that work for nothing.

Because you're not supposed to notice you're playing as a Siren/too much work to design a unique quest just for her.

I suppose you could argue Lilith is far more powerful in storyline sense.

Yes, its so Jack could capture her and use her as a new Key Charger. She came anyway because she didn't know that could happen, and she didn't want to be left out of the action.

The SAFE was slain in battle. A great flaming nautical pyre carries it off to VAULTHALLA.

She didn't want her to be captured since Jack needs a Siren but she was dumb, went there and got captured anyways.

Yeah about that... I have no idea. Maya would have been standing right there if Lillith wasn't so... yeah.

It is mentioned in Maya's hidden ECHOs in the Wildlife Exploitation area, that she has no connection to Eridium (unlike Lilith). So that's why it was ok for her to go.

Yup, she didn't want the Eridium-Head to appear and take her place......

    But alas....

ah..so it must be a siren that has consumed/used Eridium. makes sense.

Well, sort of. Sirens are linked to the Vaults, and therefore linked to Eridium. Either Maya just wasn't powerful enough due to not using the Eridium as you stated, or Angel was lying to Jack about Maya and he believed it.

Something about Lilith being on Pandora when the Eridium appeared. So she was powered by the Eridium but Maya was not, since she just recently arrived. She's not capable of powering the vault key, and even if she was, Lilith would be able to do it much faster and better. Plus, who's to say Lilith wouldn't be able to teleport or phasewalk to hurt Jack before he captured Maya? Lilith was the easier choice.

Yeah, apparently Lilith's powers were greatly augmented by constant consumption of Eridium, although they didn't appear to have any effect on Maya.

If you recall, there's an early sidequest which involved you performing surgery on one of Zed's 'patients' and it was revealed that the latter had unwisely swallowed some unrefined Eridium in the hopes of gaining powers or something, but Zed pointed out that it was ineffective.
